18 x 9.5 +22 all around question
so, my APEX ARC-8 wheels arrived yesterday (however my car won't be here until christmas time).
and I am looking to buy a set of tires for the trackdays. I have two questions here. 1) will 1M fit 4 wheel + tire in the car without removing any seats? If it does, I will definitely get Hoosier R6 or equivalent. 2) is 265/40/18 or 265/35/18 good size? I'm afraid the front will rub. I am certain that I want square setup, but not sure if it'll rub inside or fender without adding spacer in the front. |

See this thread for some help..
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=602568 I have heard that the stock setup can fit in the car... a square setup like this will be close but the tires are wider... so likely 3 in the back and one in the trunk. 265/35/18 should be fine on those wheels.. there is another thread on this someplace.. one of the tuner shops that posts here a lot has already done this.. you might could search.. |

1) yes all 4 can fit in the car. Fold the back seats down and roll all four in behind the front seats. Then strap them down using the cargo hooks near the trunk latch. I fit 2 tires sized 265 and 2 tires sized 295 in the back. 2) 265/35/18 is the better size. I have those on a 9.5" arc apex wheel for the front and 295/30/18 on 10.5" wheels. No rubbing front or back. |

now i'm looking into getting set of slick tires. Hankook Z214 C91 to be exact.
they offer 245/35/18 and the next size is 275/35/18 I wonder if 275/35/18 will be okay for the front??? The wheel size is 18 x 9.5 with +22 offset. |

However... the Hankook Ventus 27/35/18 was not anywhere near fitting.. If the C91 Hankook has similar dimensions it will be really tough although the 9.5" wheel will help to avoid rubbing inside the front wheelhouse.. The key issue will be how the shoulders of the tire fit with respect to the front springs. The Hankook is kinda rounded and taller than the hoosiers.. I would check the tire specs on both the Hankook tires and the Hoosier before plunking down the cash. Maybe see if you can find a used tire on ebay to test fit? the hankooks are half an inch wider than the hoosiers/continentals.
I ran the 245 hankooks on my old racecar (9" wheel) and it worked out great...will work on a 9.5" wheel. Some might say the 245s are too skinny for the 1M. I've been following a tire thread on NASA TT forum and some of the corvette guys are saying they would be fine with 245 tire (the 255 cheater tire has been upclassed). Your alternative would be the 255/35-18 hoosier A6 which will fit. |
