BSM? If so you have my twin.
Buy it from a dealer? If not how do you buy a car and not know what mods or wheels are on it?

Risky move!! Whenever buying a modded car make sure you do your homework and get any and all information about what mods and changes have been done to the vehicle as well as service info. Hope it all works out. Looks like you ended up with a nice looking car with some clean mods. You just never know who did the work, if they did a proper job and what the repercussions of his mods and driving habits have on the life of the car. For the future! Take the extra few days and get the info!

That's an interesting dyno sheet, pretty defined curves.
You can figure out the exhaust by getting under it and sharing a pic or looking for MFG stamp. The tune I'm not sure how you're going to get that one. It also looks like the car is lowered, have you looked for coilovers in there?

Yeah, I bought it from a dealer. I know it was a little risky to buy it without knowing anything about the mods, but the previous owner left all of the service records in the car so I could see he took good care of the car. So far I'm very happy with my purchase.
This weekend I will try to get under the car and check out the exhaust and suspension. |

It looks like the previous owner had good taste in wheels! Those are our flow formed V810s!

The exhaust is stainless, not titanium, you can tell from the patina.
Absolute numbers aside, that dyno curve is HORRIBLE! The car's obviously tuned but not very well. The only plus side is the turbo isn't being pushed very hard. I'd expect the fueling and timing are all screwed up / weren't even touched or you'd be making more power with a nicer looking curve. So it's probably not the safest thing for your engine either. My advice, remove whatever tune or piggyback that is and get a safe, decent flash tune...like MHD. Also, for the benefit of people who will read this thread, I'll support the opinion to NOT buy a modded car unless: 1) it's a serious bargain (and if so, there's probably a reason: "if it's too good to be true...") 2) you know what you're getting into (inapplicable 99% of the time) 3) it was your friend's car, and they're honest with you (see #2) 4) you like to gamble, and can take the hit if necessary Sometimes it's unavoidable, like if the P/O took all the mods off the car...but in that case, how would you know, and what can you do anyway? If you KNOW the car's modded, it's better to walk away unless one or more of the above applies. |
