Sports Package
Been looking hard and long at a 128 and am wondering whats the fuss on the sports package? is it really manditory? I love the though of additional 18inch tires, and sports seats here in Canada.. just wondering the "feel" difference in the ride and the look difference of the car if any?
The prob is only the premimum pack up here gets xenons on the 128. I really want em both but each pack is 2500$ and I`m trying to save a lil dough... thoughts?:iono:. ps. I`m leaning sports pkg no xenons |

the sport seats are very nice. i like the non-sport 128 wheels better than the sports 128 wheels personally. also, the 128 sport wheels are 17" also, you have to step up to the 135 for the 18s from the factory.

On the 128i the sport package also adds the sport suspension which will be a lot better if you plan on doing "spirited" driving. There is a thread around here where people talk about their regrets when ordering and a couple of people mention that they regret not getting the sport package on the 128i
On the 135i the suspension is standard, so the sport package only changes the seats, steering wheel and some body molding. Not as big of a deal. Dan |

I've got the 128i-cab with the premium and sport package; in Canada - the sport package comes with 18inch rims and great sport seats. Id highly recommend the sport package. I've also got the premium package on my car and love the xenons - if you had to go with one or the other I'd say go with sport... the xenon's are hot though.

I cant drive w/o Xenons its a must. Get the premium. As for the wheels a lot of people will change them so you will be able to get them on ebay or craigslist . Sell your stockers so youll save a lot of money(someone will probably buy them as winter wheels).

Xeon light is standard on 135 but an option on 128. Sport suspension is standard on 135 and it is part of the sport package on 128. The sport package is different between 128 and 135. I believe you only get the M steering wheel and the shift knob on 135's sport package and I like the M steering wheel a lot.

Riddler, the Canadian 128i cabrio has xenon as standard.
The 18 rims do give you much better steering feedback, I test drove the two side by side last week. The firmer suspension and the sport seats are really a must for this car. Also, the 18 rims has better visual proportion giving your 128i a more muscular look. GO FOR IT. |

I think it really depends on the type of drive you are, if you prefer a nice daily drive with no intention of spirited driving, then premium is probably your best bet, but if u ever intend on driving a whee bit more aggressively, then the sport seats and suspension definitely help.
best of both worlds: get both if you are leasing or financing, just don't eat steak too often

Does that mean it is better to just buy the 135?

I really rather the sport seats I guess because I am smaller in size (5'7" 165lbs) but I have heard that some larger fellas cant fit in there too good. the sport steering wheel is really good too and cost 1k by itself after market. just some food for thought...

IMO the sport package on the 128i and 135i is a MUST!!! I have seen both in person and it makes a big diff. IMO.
I suggest saving longer and getting both. Get what you really want. Thats what I am doing. I have waited a long time for the 1 to come out. I am paying off credit cards and saving for a good down payment. Thats why I am waiting another 296 days b4 I order a fully loaded 135i MINUS NAV. I will get what I want by waiting and having patience. In the long run you will be much happier you saved and waited. This is just me, I always get what I want. GOOD LUCK SIR.... |

I'm in the minority but I don't think the sports package is a must.
I think its an option that you must however test drive before you decide on it. I loved the sports package in the 3 series I had in the past. I was less thrilled with it in the Z4's I had with it. |

The sport seats are 110% more comfortable than the standard seats.
I strongly suggest you go sit in both seats at the dealer. I wouldn't even think about getting a BMW without the sport package(it should be standard, come on BMW). |

The SP on the 128i gives better seats, wheels, tires, and suspension; blacked out exterior trim; drops the car 1/2 inch; and raises electronic speed limiter from 130 to 150 mph. The seats alone are worth it!
