Smile 235/45-17 square. Will that fit? Offset recommended?

I'd like to put 235/45-17 (square) on my car. Michelin PSS. I'm keeping the springs stock, probably doing M3 control arms on the front. Getting either 7.5 or 8 inch wheels.

Two reasons for the 17 inch, and the somewhat big tires. Better ride (more air volume) and getting the speedo to be at least close to accurate. I don't need the ultimate in handling.

Will this fit? My big concern is clearance to the front spring perch. I also don't want to have to massage the fender.

Recommendations for offset on the wheels? I could measure a bunch of stuff, but experience is likely a better guide.

The alternative is the very safe 225/45-17.

235/45/17 has similar overall dimensions to 235/40/18 - So have a look at the cars on the forum that have used 235/40/18 on the front. I don't think it is likely to rub the stock spring perch, but it can rub the fender if the camber is stock. The solution is to either 1) Choose a brand of tires that aren't very wide, or 2) Use some camber on the front (eg: Dinan fixed camber plates).

I have 235/40-18 MPSS with no issues. Offset on my wheels is 45, my drop is about 0.5, my camber is -1.5, and have no fender roll or stretch. It's very close on the strut side but I have no rubbing on either the strut or the fender. Front fitment on the 1 requires the right combination of size, offset, drop, size and brand of tire. Very doable though at this size.

My best guesstimate is that a 45 offset with the m3 bits will be fine on your car.

That setup should fit.

17x8.5 +45 should work nicely. Ideally you'd want +48ish in the back, but its probably fine either way.
