hey crew,
just spoke to the guys at RSC - my understanding this tool was designed with some other engineers at the factory level. there are no user adjustable parameters - i guess in short its either on or off, at the user level we cant write to or adjust anything additional. I hope this helps guys. any other questions fire away whatever i cant answer ill be happy to find out. i would be super curious to line up a bone stock 135 and my car thats bone stock except for the TCU upgrade - |

I know
We need more clamp pressure and less slip on the software side. From there we can actually judge the strength of the components and go about upgrading in a more prudent way.

He said no user adjustable parameters, that to me does not mean that the tuner can't change the parameters and then flash new code. Need to clarify that point with RSC.
If it is allowing more torque through, you need to have them dyno your car with the tune and without the tune for a true comparison. |

confirmed the tuner cannot change parameters then flash code. i guess this is't a solution for the level 10+ guys
I have confirmed to join them for the next dyno session. i will do with and without TCU tune. cant wait. |

I hope this is something new.....
But sadly I get the feeling that they just gave you the "2011" flash or something. I find it hard to believe a company would be developing something as groundbreaking as a NEW custom TCU flash and not be posting/hyping it up. Which leads my to my next thought: How does the TCU gauge slip? Input versus output speed of the trans? Maybe someone can make something to alter the output speed sensor of the trans to essentially add some delay (low pass filter in the analog world) which would cause the TCU to think there is slightly more slip than there really is. This would in turn cause the TCU to increase line pressure. |

hey OP,
can you make a video of your car driving in D mode as well as DS and M? please show the gauge cluster and do different types of driving. ---------- so I emailed them....apparently they offer an ECU tune as well. I would like to see the actual results before biting the bullet though |

Based on the fact that no one to date has been able to modify the TCU programming outside of OEM BMW flashes (Alpina).
If these guys somehow happened to be the only people on earth to accomplish this, one would think they would be more "outgoing" regarding details considering the initial investment required to be able to modify TCU programming on this car would be quite large. Kind of reminds me of those eBay programers you could buy for 1997 Saturn's for $29. Over in Germany, people are still resulting to the Alpina flash for their TCU upgrades, and I would have expected any breakthroughs to happen there first. |

these guys are gearbox tuning huracans, aventadors, porsche pdk's, ferrari F1 gearboxes, the new S63 AMG's as well as the new M5/M6 - but im sure the 135 really stumped them! In the meantime i'll continue to enjoy mine! |

Does it just shift faster? Does it rev match on down shifts? If it took 5 minutes, it sounds like the Alpina flash. Its hard to believe a company would invest much time and money into a BMW 6at flash when the Alpina flash is wildly available, and sometimes free. Do they have any details on the improvements over stock, or how it would compare to other trans flashes? Anything they wish to put out there to show this is something they actually created, spec'd out, and how it compares? |

These systems are ALL outsourced to third parties. BMW doesn't make engine computers. Companies like Bosch, Siemens, and Motronics do, and even then some of the hardware engineering is outsourced yet again to companies like Renesas. Often it's about luck and/or poor design, poor crypto, etc. A Ford could be easier to hack than a Ferrari if Ferrari just f'ed up their mechanisms for flashing. There have been some very quick leaps in security on engine computers in the past decade as they use more and more advanced systems. A company like GM has a lot more money to spend on it than Lamborghini... They can't even come close to GM's (or even BMW's) revenue, so they're stuck finding some off the shelf system (i.e. piggybacking technology off someone with a lot more R&D money). Unit cost for an ECU is negligable. They're a couple of hundred bucks a piece when you are buying millions. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Lamborghini and Ferrari ECU and TCU units are easier to hack for that reason.

shifts faster in DS rev matches on down shift in D its not so unresponsive - prior to this i would ONLY drive in DS - now D is usable Ill ask the guys at RSC if they want to share any info. i would guess our market doesnt work for them since alpina flash is free or near free and from what i understand their delivery method/module un-programmed is pretty costly. |

Fone Phreak > I'm local my brotha! Get me in there. Seriously, would love to try it out. I'm FBO with a custom e85 tune (e65). I had the Alpina flash done last year.
My question is -- is it reversible? The next would be cost. If they are willing to do it, and the price is reasonable, let me know. BTW, D = Dog shit! Man is that mode useless. I also drive DS all day. I know level10 is pretty reputable and they have a flash offering: http://www.levelten.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=29 Wonder how comparable these are.
