New 135i videos on youtube-135i VS e92 M3
Not sure if this is a repost.
There are a couple of new 135i videos on BMW M3 vs BMW 135i vs Nismo 350Z vs S2000-S Drag & Slalom The other one is BMW M3 vs BMW 135i vs Modified 135i vs 350Z vs S2000 Race however I can't open this one for some reason. (edit: appears to now be deleted) Search for 135i under video uploaded today and both will come up. Let me know if you can open the 2nd video. http://www.youtube.com/results?uploa...rch_query=135i |

Looks like the 135i beat the lot of them in both the drag race and slalom :w00t:

I would infer their consensus approved of the 135's power/acceleration, expressing concerns/complaints about it's body roll though still demonstrating nimbility(?).:biggrin: Japanese is not my native tongue.:iono: Any here fluent in Nihongo?
Kool vid, thanks.

'even though the 135i showed the most body roll of the tested vehicles, it still maintained excellent traction throughout the slalom course'

In the acceleration test, the driver was impressed with the power and said if you see it on the street, don't try racing it. The M3 driver said that he got wheel spin when shifting into 2nd gear. In the slalom the 135 was nimble and smooth while the M3's turns felt sharper. Although the 135 had a lot of body roll, the tires never lost contact and the car felt stable. He also said that there was little noticible difference with traction control on or off. They said both BMWs handle well.

Hey run and Redline,
As you guys evidently understand Nihongo, could you please interpret the thread, keep us posted(pun intended)? The testers seemed impartial, were affable, appeared to be enthusiastic, decent, cars-guys. Others will natter. It happens.

The M3 and Nismo 350Z had better lap times than the 135i by about 1sec. These cars must have a better suspension setup for the race track and the NISMO 350Z is obviously a modified car. Still impressive from the 135i for a car that is less than half the price of the M3 (in Australia)

You can see the evidence of the understeer issue on the last turn at the Tsukuba track. Even the BMW performance suspension has close to the same amount of understeer as the stock sport suspension.

Actually, I'm using a translater. This is for the race video that phaze posted. Disclaimer – this isn’t a word for word translation. Intro: S2000 Driver – It has the lowest hp here, but I think the low weight will make a difference. NISMO 350Z Driver – The domestic Z has great performance and handling. I’m going to enjoy this battle. Stock BMW 135i Driver – I’m more interested in the driving pleasure from the 135i, but deep down I want to win this race. Tuned BMW 135i Driver – The car is a demo from a turbo tuning company. They lowered the car and installed a prototype dampening kit. (Note: not clear if they did anything with the motor.) The tires are Potenzia RE11 (and some other info about the tires and wheels) BMW M3 – The expectations are the highest for the M3 so I really want to win this race. Race: Stock BMW – No where to go. NISMO 350Z – Alright I’m on top. Top! Top! Top! Top! Tuned BMW 135i – I’m doing well. Keeping up with the Nissan. S2000 – I can keep up with the field, but I have to do better here. BMW M3 – Don’t cut me off! You’re scaring me! (as S2000 cuts him off) Tuned BMW 135i – The suspension doesn’t feel stable. Wish it was stiffer(?). BMW M3 – M Power! I’m sorry guys, but the M has lots of power. (waves as he passed Stock 135) NISMO 350Z – Its very easy to drive and easy to enter the turns. The car handles well in the transitions, but the wheel spin is a waste. (announcer mentions that the reinforced lsd for the NISMO would improve the speed.) Tuned BMW 135i – Oh no the M3 is coming. BMW M3 – Brakes. (announcer states the M3 is having brake problems, but the 135i with its 6 pots brake calipers has none.) BMW M3 – Excuse me, coming through. (waves as he passes Tuned 135) Stock 135i – (announcer, the stock 135i is very stable and its not having the problem that the tuned 135i has.) Tuned BMW 135i – Fast, that M3 is faster than I thought. (trying to catch the M3) Come on. Come on. Wish this had more performance. NISMO 350Z – The M3 is coming… Come on let me win this! The results: 1st place finish NISMO 350Z - best laptime 1 min. 06.881 sec. on lap 2 2nd place finish BMW M3 – best laptime 1 min 06.436 sec on lap 5 3rd place finish Tuned 135i – best laptime 1 min. 07.887 sec. on lap 2 4th place finish Stock 135i – best laptime 1 min. 07.887 sec. on lap 4 5th place Honda S2000 - best laptime 1 min. 08.885 sec. on lap 4 |
