accident insurance checks?
I have only made 1 other claim that I don't think went well. Never did get paid.
So I have Progressive, have had them for 10+ years. I hit a raccoon with the car that did ~$2,800 worth of damage; $500 deductible. So I got a check made out to me and WFDS, there's a loan on the car. Progressive says anything over $1,500 has to be made to the owner and shop, or shop, etc. Not directly to the owner (me). I can competently complete the repairs I think need to be done myself. So I want the money to do so. But I'm not able to cash this check, at all. WFDS's policy is the same as Progressive basically. So for those who have made claims and had a loan on the car, Did you get a check made directly to you? Who is your insurance provider? Are you happy with them? AND TBH, if I knew this would be such a hassle to me I'd of just forgone the insurance claim and paid out of pocket for repairs. I mean the insurance payout doesn't account for the future buyer haggling the selling price down because Carfax now show a front end collision, more depreciation. The check only accounts for repairs. The hassle for me is that I work nights, 12hr shifts, 4 days a week. So by the time Friday rolls around I'm rather sleep deprived and sleep in. By the time I wake up it's afternoon or later. Not left with much time to get the car to a bodyshop for inspection. I don't have another car. So I can't leave the car at the shop. I don't know of any bodyshop that does loaner cars and I don't think my insurance covers a rental, of which there is nothing within 45 minutes of me. And I don't have any EMPTO left at work. |

Go up a few levels of management and ask them to show you where it says that in your contract.
IT DOES NOT. Tell them your next call is to the state insurance commissioner. You will still have to work with bank since they are a loss payee. They want to see their collateral fixed.

Standard practice
Progressive is no different than nay other insurance company. I'm surprised they would write a check to you if under $1500.
