Anyway to run Rear Fog lights w/o bi-xenons on?
So I have been researching on how it may be possible to run the rear fog lights I setup with the halos/angel eyes on only. It seems the only way I can enable them is with the bi-xenons on. When I had my car coded the gentlemen informed me that there is no way to do it however my friend with a e90 335xi had that capability.
Is there any way to go about this? Here is my car with the stock Pre-LCI tailights and the after with the Blackline LCI taillights: |

The button is present in your light controls, BMW just made it so you CANNOT press the button.. You can go around this by removing the button cover and taking off the clips that hold the button in place. This will free up the button so that you can press it and turn on your rear fogs.
This is the EXACT same DIY i followed step by step to complete this.. It should only take 30 minutes max. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51749

Why do you want to run those rear fogs all the time!?!? Your gonna melt your tail light lens! I'm not kidding!
Over here in Germany you can only use those rear fogs when you can only see 50 meters or less. On the Autobahn that is the distance between the white/black kilometer "stick" markers. So when you can not see the next marker... you "may" use them. But the Polizei will pull you over if you forget to turn them off when the fog lifts.

+1. Yup. And to think BMW's best lighting... their new adaptive LED lights are not legal because they turn off the high beams automatically(and have no mechanical high beam switch - since the car does it all on its own!) for the US market. No wonder why the Germans think we are a backwater country. lol

I don't see why you would need them on either, when I enabled them on my previous 1 they were as bright or brighter than my actual brake lights. And even then, if you only have your halos on then it isn't dark enough to have the rear fogs on anyways.

On my car, if you turn on the fogs with the switch in headlight mode, and then turn the headlights off... the rear fogs stay on.

If the driver in front ran his rear fogs on the whole time and there was no fog I'd be thoroughly pissed. There's a reason why many cars only have 1 sided rear fogs and/or they can't be turned on unless you actually use your fogs. It's very distracting.
Another thread to add to the list of LOL threads here. LOL |

Then for your sake I hope you drive into a ditch. You driving with rear fogs on is like me driving with my hi-beams pointed at you. If you're ok with a d*ck move like that so be it.

Driving with your rear fog lights on when it's not foggy out is a great way to get your rear view mirrors filled with high beams. It's a dick move to drive with them on all the time.

I'd do this. I'm all for making your car look the way you want, but you can't even see the rear fogs, why do you care if they are on? And if you care about other people looking at your car, you will just end up with everyone behind you pissed off.
