Want an exhaust that would allow me to keep the the black chrome tips.
Hello everyone,
I'm looking for an exhaust that would allow me to keep the current black chrome exhaust tips (I really like the look of the chrome tips). It's fine if the exhaust requires the tips to be cut off, but I'm looking for one that would be most compatible with the stock tips. Or maybe there's an exhaust that already comes with the same chrome tips? What are my options? I'm mainly looking for an exhaust to give the car a more aggressive sound when accelerating (maybe there's another option besides getting an exhaust?)

Most companies have the option to have black tips put on (assuming this is what you want, your post is kind of confusing) for a small fee. Cp-e, Maddad, probably more. Do some of your own research instead of having other people do it for you.

Thanks for the reply. I've done my own research in the past but couldn't come up with anything conclusive. Not sure why my post was confusing. I basically want to keep the current exhaust tips. I've read in the past that there are members who have managed to cut off the tips and put them on their new exhaust. Since I'm not an overly technical person when it comes to cars, I was trying to see if someone out there knew exhausts that would be a good fit for replacing the tips with the stock tips.

You said you really liked chrome tips, and then you went on to say that maybe there was one [you could buy] that already comes with the same chrome tips.
Also, search for golf-tee/exhaust flapper mod while you wait to get a cat-back. I prefer to pull the sensor in the trunk because it's cleaner.

The stock black tips just slide on to the existing muffler. Most aftermarket exhausts have larger tips than stock so they won't work. Cp-e has them as an option as well as Dinan that I'm aware of. I had to have black tips also, I went with the Cp-e and have been fairly happy. The sound is good, slight drone at 2k rpms but sounds great under full throttle. Doesn't sound like the videos online, but close. No YouTube video will do any exhaust justice. Best to hear them in person if possible... Best of luck in your quest!

I think Rogue offers black tips as well.

Ditto...post pics if you purchase this axle back exhaust. I am very interested as well but my budget went to Cobb this year so maybe next year.

There is no exhaust that exactly emulates the finish on the OEM 135i tips. The OEM BMW tips are polished aluminum and then are TypeII anodized. There is currently no commercially viable method to electrochemically treat the surface of 304 stainless steel using a anodizing or magnetic dyeing process. Your only real option is to use a black ceramic coat that is specifically designed for automotive uses (i.e. high heat) such as the one we offer for any of our exhaust systems.

@BerkTechnology: Thanks for the clarification! Do you have a video of what the exhaust sounds?

@BerkTechnology: any chance you'll offer the ceramic coating with the full DP-back sports exhaust for N55? Or even better, a ceramic coated dual exhaust.

Yes we can coat the entire system if you wish. No dual exhaust planned yet except for the 1M system that we are developing.
