ilikebmxbikes > Was actually thinking about that today. 1M's don't rock the sun roof. Truth be told, I don't use the darn thing anyways. Just checked the site and good lawd that's a pricey upgrade -- LOL! There goes my Black-Friday money!
That aerial shot they took of you driving (on the "Euro Car" publication) really shows it off. Sick! I'll get around to it. I dig the look...gotta get my ducks in a row. |

Someone needs to take a mould of the hybrid side skirts and start selling them, Would make the front only conversion easier.

MaDoNiOn > No worries. Don't hold me to it just yet. The parts are coming in. Once I get everything installed, I'll confirm. The horn relocation parts/brackets are still missing. This usually comes with the retrofit kit, but since we're going around that -- it's still up in the air. I'll get those part #'s.
Whether you're doing the 1M conversion or 1M replica w/1M ducts, this will help. |

silly question... but from the looks of the rear stock qtr panels and the 1m skirt, does it seem feasible stretch that stock fender to the skirt or is it too much of a street. just curious.

DTR > You're looking at a 2" stretch/pull. Assuming you can pull it off -- you're just gonna run out of material and real-estate. It won't look right.
The biggest issue is not really making the flares line-up, but making it look consistent with a true 1M. I'm sure you can flatten the stock arches and tug it to hell-and-back -- but what would that look like? I'll tell ya -- like a hot chick with NO HIPS! LMAO. |

ilikebmxbikes > I remember Venom mentioning that he flared his arches a little more than stock (If my memory serves me correctly). Being that you guys did it simultaneously -- did you also come out a little more on the arches?
=============== Also, was wondering if you know the proper part numberss (brackets/bolts), for the horn relocation. The PPK2 comes with L-Shaped brackets which require drilling holes into the support -- not a big fan of that process. From the few 1M pics I've gathered, the horns are mounted using some sort of clip-nut, or bracket, which lines up to the factory pre-drilled bumper carrier holes. On realOEM, even at the dealer (under "VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM") -- they show the standard 135 dual-horn bracket. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partgrp.d...42&hg=61&fg=40 Last edited by TUN3D; 08-27-2014 at 12:29 PM.. |

MaDoNiOn > I'm Tryin' -- hahaha! Got more parts in today. Got my rear bumper & support brackets. I also got one of the rear quarters and most of the PPK2.
Still missing one of the PPK2 hoses, my other rear quarter is in transit from Germany, and the damn horn relocation brackets are no where to be found -- lol. This weekend will be kinda boring. I'm planning on putting in the rear bumper so that's coming your way. I'll also post some pictures of the parts I got. The quarter panel I received is in a freakin' crate! I also have to figure out what to do with my Meth kit (Aquamist). I've had this damn thing partially installed for the last few months. Been making so many changes that I haven't had time to finish up. Now with the 1M battery relocation, I need to take it off, analyze the new setup/spacing & re-install. PITA!! -- LOL. Here is what it currently looks like. I took my sweet time with it -- clean! Last edited by TUN3D; 08-22-2014 at 04:15 PM.. |

Alright guys, I'm getting closer to figuring out what these damn horn brackets looks like. They are no where to be found... You'll notice that it is in fact an L-Shaped bracket, however not entirely. The other pics I've seen, including the "Wreck" image above shows it bending into the bumper carrier. I'm going to take stab at recreating the damn thing... Has anyone seen this shit? LMAO! I advise you bend it, fit the parts, test your horn, and adjust if necessary. Venom's horn sounds different than mine after his 1m conversion. Its more high pitch which i suspect is from the horn bracket connecting with something and vibrating upon use. |

ilikebmxbikes > D'oh! I already took off the bracket -- rivets and everything. Oh well, I'll keep looking. Eventually someone in the history of BMW has to know what part that is -- right? This might take a while dude...hahaha!

I kept the stock 135i bumper support bracket and just bent the horn. Our arches are custom made so they are slightly wider and pronounced than an actual 1m. they are subtly wider but together with a real one you notice it. |

You should be able to track it but there are some small 1m parts you cannot get PN for. I needed a 1M 'Traction Control / Hazard Light' switch and couldnt get one. So instead am installing an M3 DCT/Power switch in my car.

Hey man, sorry if you mentioned it already but how are you doing your rear quarter widenings? I saw you got the full rear quarter panel, are you going with a cut and graft?
Reason: Sort of stuck between converting my 1er or buying a 1M. Engine/tranny are healthy in this car so not sure I want the gamble on it, if you follow me. Started pricing a conversion. The rear quarter work scares me a little.

ShocknAwe > I have both methods available to me right now -- within $300 -- not including paint. Either/or are viable (replacing the entire panel vs. cut/welding of the arches). The real difference, would be the prep/paint work. I'm wrapping the car for now -- so that isn't a factor. I'll let you know which route I take and why in the next few weeks. You'll see it all here.
To be honest, I would never buy a 1M. To me...the performance gap, compared to the 135, isn't wide enough to justify the inflated price tag. At 1M prices (perhaps a little more) you can get a used GTR and its "check mate". To each his own though (and you'll meet alot of bias resistance from purist and 1M owners). There are many personal factors involved into why I decided to convert. My top reasons are... 1) I love working on this damn car! I've had two of them -- an '08MT and '09AT. I've done all my installs, repairs, tuning, etc. The work process and coordination is something I really enjoy. You have no idea how much fun I'm having doing this conversion. 2) Because of how very little I owe on this car, I've decided to keep it. In addition, my monthly payments are well under $290. Clean title, under 40k, engine/tranny/turbos in great health. At the end, it just has to make sense to you. Last edited by TUN3D; 08-24-2014 at 10:21 PM.. |

Thanks for the detailed reply!
Yup, pretty much sums up where I'm at for the moment. I think you know which way I'm leaning. Plus I really hate Alcantara... Done all the work so far myself and would do the conversion myself as well (minus welding/paint obviously). So far I've followed the work of the other fellas that have done this and am excited to see how you get on with it. Yours will probably make or break the deal for me on this extensive modification. Looking forward to the rest!

ShocknAwe > Couldn't agree more. I'm not a big fan of the Alcantara either. The exterior styling is what I love most about the 1M (yet another reason). I'm running a JB4 with a custom E85 flash and inline fuel pump upgrade -- RBs coming later. That said, if you're a 1M owner, the minute you get serious about tuning the car -- there goes that 30hp advantage -- stock vs. stock.
The beefed up suspension is where the 1M really shines over the 135. I don't track the car in a way that I need/benefit from the factory upgrades. The day I do...Ill get M3 bits. For me, a solid 1/4 mile is the ultimate goal and where I'm headed. So yeah man, like I mentioned, its really all about your personal goals and level of involvement you want.
