BlueStreak Builds A Racecar
Hi guys,
Been in the car scene since 2007. Started off with a MazdaSpeed 3 and went nuts with the engine mods; built motor, big turbo, blah blah blah. Earlier this year, it was time to part ways with the Speed and move onto something my dad and I could enjoy. Enter the 2008 135. Purchased it this January and immediately started working on it. The car is pretty far along and has been track worthy since May. Still have lots to do but it will have to wait until this winter in the off season. The Build: - 2008 BMW 135 /w 79,000 KMs (Canadian speak for 50K Miles) - COBB Intercooler - Diff lock down bracket /w Whiteline bushing inserts in rear subframe - Seibon single sided carbon trunk. - 18" Apex Arc8s /w Bridgestone 265/35/18s all around. - 1M front end conversion /w 1M/135 hybrid sideskirts. - ER CP /w HKS BOV (I need me that VTA rice). - ER dual oil cooler setup - MFactory TBD - Sparco Pro Adv and Evo 2 seats - M3 front suspension bits. - JRZ RS1 dampers /w Swift springs. - Rogue Engineering rear toe links. Need to swap in more of their gear out back. - AFe axle back exhaust for teh loudz. - Stoptech BBK all around. - CSF radiator - Custom 6pt cage and a whole lot of weight reduction. - Sabelt 6pt harnesses - 3M satin white pearl vinyl wrap done by my father and myself. My dad and I built this together (mostly me. hah) but I brought the car to a local race shop to do the cage and most of the under car bits. The latter being a) i don't want to work underneath a car anymore and b) i don't want to do my own brakes as our lives are at stake and I don't trust myself. Over the winter, I plan on gutting the dash, swapping in a carbon hood, doing some more weight reduction out back (battery, that 10kg ballast etc) and beefing up the suspension with more spherical bits. Cheers. Last edited by xBlueStreakx; 07-31-2017 at 02:08 PM.. |

Nice build. Have you put the car on a scale yet?
My 128, with minor weight reduction within Street Touring Solo build, is 2928 lbs at race weight |

VERY nice!
Looks like they did an awesome job on the cage. I'd like to see more pics.

Car looks fantastic. A thing of beauty!
I like the way the roll cage is welded to the rear chassis rail. That's how it should be done IMO. Others I've seen are welded near the shock mount. |

Nice build!
You might want to put some chicken wire or something similar on the lower openings of the bumper to help protect the radiator and oil coolers. Those big openings look prime for some rocks (at least on tracks around me they would be). |

Love the build, JRZ , where did you get those eyelids from for your headlights? They look great on your car.

Fitment isn't that great. But it's a racecar so no biggie. You can also find them in CF; don't know about fitment tho. |

Really nice looking car inside and out.
I like where you put the Fire Extinguisher cable. I have an old fire extinguisher system that I've thought about putting in my car. I might get a longer cable and put it in the same place. Do you have a power disconnect switch? I'm wondering how to do that. Also, how did you paint the cage?

I don't have a power disconnect switch (yet). Might integrate one into the harness this winter and will have to read up on how to do it. Cage was rattle canned. Mask off the adjacent areas then spray very carefully. Some areas have overspray but overall not horrible. |

Do you bother with putting it on a tender overnight from time to time? Nice build, btw.
