You should be able to cut the arched portion off the replacement 1M panels and weld them to the 135i fenders. Still a lot of work but probably less than pulling the sides off the 135 to install the new fenders and shouldn't create any issue with the window. Nice to have steel.

Fair enough... Didn't know that the rear windows were a different shape...

1M isn't a real M car anyway so why does it matter if he puts a badge on it?

The windows are the same size but obviously have to be removed from one then reinstalled in the other. It definitely cost more but I like the additional piece of mind of having a complete 1piece steel rear quarter

sorry for thread jack op

Come back in 5 years when everyone is praising it as the pioneer M car of the new generation M.

Have you seen the specs of the new M3 and M4? Lots of 1M haters swinging from those nuts already.

I thought about doing OEM 1M rear quarters. I probably would have gone with cutting and just welding the rear fender instead of the whole panel had I thought of it. Some shops warned me that grafting the entire panel would cost more, possibly require new glass for both side windows and rear glass, and surely steel, and rigidity could possibly be compromised slightly. This info came from a very reputable shop.

Curae, your car looks amazing - why have you not started a project log?!

I have to agree. There looks to be a lot more 1m blood in the m3/m4 than e9x..... Just saying....

OT, but actually, from what I gathered they're all the same bloody thing. All GT86's/FR-S/BRZ's received Subaru VIN's (including the Scions), even though the get stamped as GT86's/FR-S/BRZ on the name plate. It's strange I know, but I dug that up only because I was considering buying one some time back but was (still am) seriously turned off at the thought of buying a stinkin Scion. Now, you can argue that the BRZ is a different car than the other two, but serious a GT86/FR-S are the same damn thing. It's literally just a badge (OK, and a few stupid cosmetic tweaks) - not like a 135i posing as a 1M which ARE two different cars.

^I'm not 100% sure of that, but I thought I'd throw that in there.

What makes it a ricer mentality? It is his car for crying out loud, let him do what he wants to do with it, no need to express your own opinions, which no one cares about, on something that isn't going to affect you. Who cares what he does?

I see what both of you are saying, but at the end of the day, who cares? Who are we to say he should or shouldn't do something with his car, or call his car what he wants? I just don't get the mentality of calling him out on it, and trashing his project simply for the reason that he will claim his car is something it is not. It is his car, and his project, leave it at that.
Lol thanks. This turned out to be like those famous well known rappers that have unlimited amounts of haters and these haters still listen to what that artist has to say in his raps or recording. Who wins at the end all the time? I think you get my point.

It is actually less body work. I knew about this but thought it would have been very expensive plus I didn't look it up and I couldn't wait for that to come who knows how long that'll take to arrive from Germany. It might not even be in stock. I ordered the OEM FRONT bumper 2 months ago and it has yet to arrive but it's not shipping lag. I heard from them and said it had to be special ordered. So I'm guessing they don't keep them stocked it has to be fabricated.
