weight reduction tips anyone?
so, was considering some ways to reduce my 125i's weight as I think it's a bit too heavy compared to it's size. Anyone has ideas about what to do?

How much do you weigh?
On a more serious note do the basics, removing the backseat is always a good place to start, that's good for 20 or 25 kg if I remember correctly. |

already lost 40kgs don't think I will loose more, at least not for now jokes apart I weigh 80 kgs which is 175pounds and I was thinking about removing the rear seats but that doesn't make a whole lot of difference.. I mean once more parts are replaced/removed yes it would stack up but by JUST removing them you won't see a noticeable change.

Delete rear seats, titanium exhaust, lighweight battery, recaro PP seats, lightweight wheels, aluminum calipers, remove all the junk from the trunk. Thats without gutting the car and removing AC unit, heat core, air bags, carpeting, ect. Good luck.

Reduce unsprung weight first. Wheels and rotors are opportunities if weight is your objective. Some two piece rotors are out there that are significantly lighter than stock.

thanks for all the feedback ! was going to start off by replacing my front brakes first as they have worn out. after that I will consider a set of lightweight wheels or a set of recaro's as mentioned earlier on

Terry used one made for the e90 he got off ebay. Fit wasn't great but it worked with some trimming, expanding foam and silicone. |

My car is just a highway car and I like being able to use the sunroof. Don't need the heavy glass panel but do want it to function. Must not be enough demand for one or one would be on the market.

Lots of good suggestions. Easy to cross the line into "annoying" if it's your daily driver. Most reduction opportunities are in the rear half of the car. To keep in balance don't forget about the front...remove small engine bay components...cowl (~10lbs), BMS cabin filter (~4lbs), windshield washer fluid (~12lbs if you can stand the dash light), carbon fiber hood...the rear and sprung have already been covered.

axelback exhaust is good for 30-35 lbs, a muffler delete would get rid of most of that
