Black chrome tips from the 135i to the 128i?
My 128i will be delivered today or tomorrow, depending on how technical you get with the time. Basically, I can't sleep.
Anyway, I was wondering if the black exhaust tips from the 135i can be fitted on to the 128i exhaust. If so, how hard would this be? Just slide it over or will there be some welding involved? Thanks! |

I haven't bought them yet. I just found that image, but now I can't find the guy who was selling them. I think you can just order the tips straight from BMW, though. I'll have to talk to my dealer about this if no one knows if they will fit. I just got my car and it's dark, but how hard should it be to remove the chrome tips that are already on it?

Dan didn't know if they would fit, but I went ahead and ordered them. Anyway, I took it to a muffler shop this morning. Fifteen minutes and 20 bucks later, he had them tacked on. It looks a lot better than the factory 128i tips. This would be especially needed if anyone with a 128i plans on installing the rear aero kit, in my opinion.

He said "tacked on," so I'm assuming that's what he meant. I went and got some breakfast, so I didn't see him do it. Anyway, I think the 128i pipes are little narrower than the 135i.

Oh, duh! I couldn't see the pics because I was at work. Some links don't work because of the web block. It looks great!
On a side note, I only have 1 pair left!!!

Just got my 135 tips from Dan and the dia. of the 128 pipes is too small for a tight slip-on fit. Also they are about an 1" shorter than the 128 tips. Just FYI, in case someone else is considering this. Looks like Seve had his welded on.
