A468 fault code (iDrive screen orange/BMW logo)

I have an intermittent problem with my 2010 135i iDrive. Once in a while (once a month or so) the screen will turn orange or show the BMW logo and never go into the actual idrive menu. I can still hear driving instructions (TURN LEFT IN 100 METERS) if I hit the shortcut button under the dvd drive to take me home, but there is still no video.

I checked for fault codes with my BT cable and the only one I have (except for fuel pump codes, sigh) is A468. The BT program says this about A468:

"A468:
No LVDS signal
Error will not cause a warning light
Error is not currently present
Test conditions have been completed
Timeout"

If I try and reset the code, it comes back immediately. I have to take it in to the deal on Monday anyway for the seatbelt recall, but does anyone have any idea what causes this? I'd like to know if this will be a constant problem with my car for the entire time I own it.

Your CIC either is not sending the LVDS signal (video) or your screen is defective.

The loaner car (09' e92 335i) I have been driving all week does the same thing. It always goes away if I turn the car off for a few minutes and start it back up. And like you said, everything functions that should except the screen itself. Sat radio and driving instructions continue on but no visual. When it happened the first time I called my SA and was told they haven't had a chance to look at it but it is a problem they've seen before.
