The HPF stainless steel exhaust system is one of the highest flowing exhaust systems for the BMW 135i with a massive 3.5" piping and no mufflers. Not only will you pick up power, but your car will weight 40 lbs less than it did with the factory exhaust. This exhaust system bolts directly to the factory cats or aftermarket downpipes. Didn't you say that this exhaust was supposed to be a little bit cheaper than the 335i HPF exhaust...pretty sure they are the exact same price.

Very very nice looking exhaust though I will be purchasing one next month.

We thought it would be slightly less but it turned out the dual titanium tip cost more than two single titanium tips and there really wasn't much savings on the rear section.

While we are on the topic of the tips have there been any talks with regards having different types of tips?

Sounds absolutely AMAZING. I must say that I am really not feeling the tips and I think a lot of people would agree. To me, titanium tips represent a rice burning high schooler's car, not a BMW.

Tips are a swore thumb unless you have a highly modified 135i. Black or polished would be better. Pricey system too. I'd love to hear some feedback once people get this on though. IMHO a revision or option w/o those tips would be welcome. Black chrome I think would be high on folks wish list.

I have the exhaust on my car and freakin love this thing. Sounds so amazing and feels great! I hear ya'll about the tips, and I was skeptical esp since my old system had black tips but it looks awesome. I will get tons of pics while at MFest and post.

You will NOT be disappointed with this system.

That's what I was thinking. I have the Active Autowerke muffler delete with the "noise cancellation chamber" and there is still some drone. I would only ever consider upgrading to a quad system for looks because the AA sounds fantastic, it's really aggressive.

I'm holding out for the maddad street series quad exhausts. I'm not sure how effective the resonators are that are built into the tips though. I don't care if it drones if it sounds the part so if HPF come out with something, I'm interested.

The guy who was raving about it on e90 finally put the exhaust on. He is fully catless and he said the car is loud as hell and there is drone. He also posted up videos and it didnt sound good at all

Unfortunately, the way our cars are designed, every DP back exhaust will have the same resonance issue. There are only so many ways to design an exhaust within the given parameters.

Not true, this system has nothing but straight pipe in it. If you apply mufflers and resonators and you make it sound beautifully

Why is it so expensive?... I appears to just be an axleback, like the AA exhaust.
Back in my "JDM" days that would be the cost of a FULL TITANIUM exhaust from J's racing...

Oh wow! I really wasn't expecting it to sound that bad. Sounds more like a low end japanese engine powering it instead of an N54. What is up with that?

Well that member is fully catless so its obviously going to be raspy and loud with nothing but straight pipe from the turbo back. Another concern I had was ground clearance. With the spacers for the lower brace...it seems like that brace now sits about 1 inch or more lower than stock. If you snag something against that brace at speed you will cause some serious damage. Maybe hpf has pictures showing the ground cleatances?

Maybe their should be a inline resonator option for the cat-less DP people to help reduce the rasp and deepen the sound a bit.

True, but there will still be a small amount of drone...

I am with you on the lower cross-brace issue. It kind of scares me.


but bottom line....

I love HPF products. I have the intercooler and the quality is for the most part top notch and the price was comparable to other FMICs.

No offense HPF but the price on this exhaust is about 1k more than it should be. I realize the quantity will be limited but damn, $1995.00 for basically a straightpipe? BMW tax right thur!

fyi...keep in mind that the development of this exhaust was to compliment the turbo kits coming out by HPF.

It is pricey, but he profit margin is probably not as steep as some think. Not here to defend or argue with folks. If you like it, then you will be happy and impressed with the exhaust. If you think its a rip off or not what you are looking for then there are other options out there which are good too.

I am happy with the exhaust and am planning on doing the stage # turbo kit upgrade when released.
