1st Service? Canada
I just picked up my 1M last night in Vancouver, BC Canada and noticed that there is no early oil change service interval for the 1M.
Double checked with the service department and the trip computer inside the car which states the normal 25,000km intervals. Do any other owners have anything different? I thought the car had the same 1500 mile / 2000 km mandatory first service? Maybe it's Canada specific? Thanks |

Email we got yesterday from BMW, the 1M has 600 miles on it and the service indicator is yellow and shows 400 minles till service. This is a USA car.
Your 2011 1 Series M Coupe has indicated that you need to schedule a service appointment for the following service(s): • Engine oil You may not have noticed it requires attention - fortunately, your BMW knows exactly when the time is right. Thanks to BMW TeleService, an intelligent onboard system, your vehicle automatically alerts South Bay BMW with information about its maintenance needs. WB |

Thanks guys, I better follow up with the dealer. The service indicator definitely shows 25,000 kms.
Just curious, does anyone know what's included in the first service? Is it just an oil change? |

Is anyone able to scan and post a screenshot of the manual or documentation that refers to the early service? It's not mentioned anywhere in the Canadian manuals...

If you look at the supplementary 1M manual you got with the other manuals it shows the oil change interval. Its around 2000 km, engine oil and filter and rear diff fluid.

Now your making me wonder but in my manual case, I think (its been almost 8 weeks and I spent about 3 min looking at it) I got 3 manuals, one for the radio, one for a 135 and one that was not very many pages that was for the 1M. Is this what you guys got? I don't have my car back to me yet so no manual to look at. I could swear it was in the area that talked about the break in etc. Either way I am attaching what the dealer in France gave me, its the service schedule for the 1M.
I don't agree with all of it, the interval for oil changes seems to be much to far apart and I didn't see anything about the transmission. Sorry for the crappy quality, just took them with my camera phone. |

I got the same manuals as you: 128/135 manual, radio, telephone, 1M supplementary manual and a service booklet. I've looked through everything and there is no mention of the first service, which is obviously a requirement. I guess I'll follow up with the service department after 2000kms since my service indicator was definitely setup incorrectly from the beginning.
Thanks for checking, appreciate it. |

You have a service at around 1900kms. It's been done on my car Tuesday engine oil, transmission oil and differential oil been changed. All of theses fluids have some chemicals in it to help the break in period when it's came from the factory.

IF it were my car I would change the oil & filter, trans fluid and rear diff fluid. BMW pays for all of that on the "other' M models in the USA. Not sure why they wouldn't on the baby M.
