KW Releases New Coilover Suspension System for the BMW 1M

Shortly after BMW released the 1M, it debuted the 1M SafetyCar for the MotoGP series. Besides a unique paintscheme and some CF addons, the car was also lowered a good amount and sporting KW stickers. The writing was on the wall and we all knew that it was only a matter of time before a coilover kit was released for the 1M.

The coilovers are a Variant 3 system of KW's kit, which means that the coilovers are both rebound (infinitely) and compression (14) adjustable along with height adjustable. Lowering ranges from 10-35 millimetres at the front and 5-25 millimetres at the rear axle.

KW claims that the new system will not only improve the cornering (especially at high speed) and aesthetics, but the comfort levels as well. They say that at low speed, the impact of transverse joints are no longer transferred directly into the passenger cabin.

The KW V3 coilovers are TUV approved and now available for 1879 Euro including VAT, no word yet on US availability. Part Number: 352 20 095

135i V3 Part Number: 352 20 039
1M V3 Part Number: 352 20 095
M3 V3 Part Number: 352 20 067

So for now it seems to be a different system based on part numbers.. I'm thinking about ordering the set right now

Is this supported from BMW or will it affect your warranty if you have a need to make a claim ?

yep, new housing with new adjustment, moving away form the old plastic adjuster and allen key.......

I have ran V3's now on my astra opc for 5 years now and can't fault them (currently matched to comp springs), soon to be replaced with clubsports very shortly........

Will end up going down the v3 route once again on the 1M, it wont be a track day car so will be staying clear of the clubsport.

Friend is the MD of KW UK so he has already been on to me about what suspension we could fit lol

Well worth it I say........

if you get them installed from bmw then they will warranty their work, but i think if something breaks its on you to call and get a new part...thats how it worked for me when i got my coils installed from my stealership on my 325i

Awesome news, this will definatly sway me towards the kws now..... BUT i always hear people say" the v3 is so comfortable we wish we got the clubsport" its a really fine line but i feel the clubsport will be still comfortable and compliant on the road, according to many accounts they are great..... BUt.... i definatly dont blame you going V3, you can always throw some stiffer springs on them later.

Can't wait to start seeing pics of modded 1Ms, lowered with nice wide wheels + lots of meat on the tires.

I don't need 14 settings. I'm not good enough of a driver to notice the difference between setting 5 or 6 anyway, and I'm too lazy to go around the car to change the setting on each spring anyway.

Therefore I'd be really happy if Bilstein would release their electronic adjustable ride control for the 1M, with 2 settings: comfort (road) or sport (track).
Allthough 3 settings might be better (comfort, spirited driving, track).
