TPMS and computer codes - BMW 1 Series Coupe Forum / 1 Series Convertible Forum (1M / tii / 135i / 128i / Coupe / Cabrio / Hatchback) (BMW E82 E88 128i 130i 135i)

When installed my Tire Rack winters, the dealer coded the new sensors to the car. In Spring when installed summer tires again, TPMS light came on. Service Advisor at dealer says I must come to dealer and get summers coded again to car. I told him BS; do you think everyone must come to dealer twice a year to get their summers or winters re coded again. He said he'd check into it and call back but never did, yet. Am I right?? I thought I read somewhere that cars could accept 4 codes from each wheel. Next day I checked my tire pressures; 3 were about 32 psi and 1 was 40 psi.

You don't need to code them at all... Just reset them when you change your wheels

RimasRS is correct, just reset the TPMS when you change the tires. The dealer can see that a TPMS reset code was stored, but it will not light any lights so there is no reason to have the dealer clear it.

No coding required, its just the dealer trying to get you in to charge you for something $$$.

yeah..he'll probably want to code your windshield wipers when your out of fluid too
