Nissan E30

Don't know how many of you have seen this already, and I apologize if it's a repost because it is a fairly old thread, but I just stumbled onto this:

Flame away if repost.

TL;DR
Guy fit RB26 into an E30 and built it from the ground up, literally. Making 495WHP now with completely custom work.

This is one of those things where no matter how great the internals and performance are, it's still on a highly outdated frame and it makes the project end up looking ricey.

Not to mention why anyone would put all that power on a frame that can't even handle it properly and was never built to crumple in an accident under that kind of performance.

Lol at all of the hate towards the E30 when it's a classic, whereas the E9X chassis will never be seen as anything more than just another entry level sedan.

While the final product isn't exactly how I'd do it, I'm unsure of where you're getting that the E30 frame is highly outdated or unable to handle power safely. The E30 is for good reason still regarded as one of the best handling FR chassis made. It isn't saddled with unnecessary and heavy "features" of modern cars. And while it does add some weight, the cage, welded to the front strut mounts will certainly aid torsional rigidity of an already rigid chassis (The E30 M3 is in the ball park of 22,000 NM/degree). Additionally, he reinforced the front and rear subframes, not to mention the suspension and braking upgrades. Again, I would've done my own car differently, but this project represents a lot of power in a small, light, and strong package.

As for its accident safety... It'll never score with modern airbagged cars in a crash test. However, E30s have been raced competitively for almost 25 years now at highly professional and highly grassroots levels of motorsport, if there was an inherent safety danger with crashing a caged E30 at high speeds, we'd know about it by now.

How can you be so sure? E90 is only around for less than 10 years vs E30 that is been around for 30 years..

The fact that you used the word "clean" to describe a car in the manner in which is not the opposite of dirty means I'd be wasting my time explaining anything.
