Slek CF Hood & Other Goodies
I installed my SleK double-sided CF hood today with some help from my friend. I just need to get a Roundel, install that and get my AeroCatch fasteners installed.
The stock hood shocks are too strong for this 16lbs hood. For those who have installed this hood (or similar weighing CF hoods); what hood shocks do I need to get? ![]() BMW Performance CF Side Mirror Caps ![]() StopTech Trophy Sport Front BBK ![]() StopTech Trophy Sport Rear BBK ![]() StopTech Trophy Sport Front BBK with ARC-8 Wheels ![]() StopTech Trophy Sport Rear BBK with ARC-8 Wheels ![]() BMW Performance CF Rear Spoiler ![]() BMW Performance Steering Wheel ![]() Honorable Mentions: o Vorschlag Camber plates o E92 M3 Lower front Control Arms o E92 M3 subframe bushings o BMW Performance Shadow Grills o BMW Performance Exhaust o BMW Performance Suspension Kit |

Very nice mate. Anymore pics of your hood from different angles etc? Any plans to put in some hood pins?
I read in another thread that someone used the M3 hood shocks for their CF hood.

Very nice. I am planning to get vent hood when they available to replace my seibon GTR vent hood. Also i like the performance steering wheel. I have a V2 waiting for install but i kinda like the V1 better since it's leather & alcantara.
I like the BBK, i never had one with silver caliper but it does look sharp. |

Stock shocks are too strong. Stock hood weights ~40lbs I thought I read somewhere here on the forum. My double-sided SleK CF hood only weighs 16lbs. I tried only one shock and still too strong IMO and I didn't like the lateral stress it put on the hood when trying to close.
I thought TEIN used to make hood shocks for aftermarket CF hoods. I'll have to search online, but if anyone who has installed a CF hood on to their 1 and can recommends other hood shock options, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. ![]() |

The StopTech Trophy Sports BBK calipers are anodized that color (not powder coated silver; you can get the "regular" StopTech BBK in several different colors including silver).

As requested (took best pics I could in my garage using my iPhone). Please note, I am not a photographer by any stretch of the imagination nor a mechanic by trade, so there still may be some minor hood adjustments required for uniform fitment front-to-back, side-to-side. When I have the AeroCatch fasteners (hood pins) professionally installed I will have them perform the final uniform fitment before cutting the hood to install the AeroCatch assemblies.

I believe the M3 hood is made out of Aluminum so it is about 22pounds while ours isn't and is in the 40+ pound range. So yup OEM m3 hood shocks.

Lol, how would you then lift the hood? Ask a friend to help you each time? Wouldn't work out well. Also they help with fitment on the other end as well.

Not to confuse the topic but I believe the E92 ZCP hood has "M3" stamped inside the hood. I don't recall seeing the same stamp on the E90 but I could be wrong. You could always check the part numbers on realoem.com to see if the shocks have the same part number.

My stocks brakes?!!! They're smoked, burnt, fried and spent!
Ha! just kidding...![]() Stock ceramic brake pistons OR what was left of them ![]() StopTech Trophy Sports BBK is AWESOME! HIGHLY recommended if you have the budget. I used to go through brake pads like they were sticks of butter. Now with this setup CarboTech entry-level XP8 (track) pads are *more* than enough and I use significantly less pad material because I only have to touch the brakes. |
