So if Toyota started severely limiting availability of the Corolla and raised its price by 5,000%, does it become an exotic?
An exotic, IMO, is a class of car that combines a bunch of stuff - power, handling, materials, styling, cachet (created mainly by price), and reputation. Rarity, I'd argue, is more a function of the price than anything else. There's just not that many people who are willing or able to pay $250,000 for a car, so the rarity thing works itself out necessarily.
