Best intercooler that does not require cutting?

As the title says, I would like to see what are your guys experiences/opinions on the best IC that requires no cutting. I've been looking at the vrsf 5" but not sure if that is the best option. Would like to hear what you guys have to say!

Vrsf, ER, AA are all good intercoolers. Vrsf has a new stepped core 5" coming out soon. I have had there original 5" on for couple months and gets the job done

I thought most looking for a smaller FMIC went with ETS. I also comes with pipes to replace some of the accordion type stock pipes.

New VRSF 5" is a really good option, also the ETS and AA one.

Hello Tiago, have you got the specs of the new 5"? I´m really interested about pressure drop because I live at 8530ft so the turbo in the N55 hardly can achieve target boost.

thanks a lot.

Good question. I'm at 6500 ft and didn't even think about it how stock vs. aftermarket FMIC would do at this altitude.

The new stepped 5" has less pressure drop than both the old 5" and the OEM intercooler. Once the shop car becomes free I plan on doing an old 5" vs new stepped 5" comparison.

I went back and forth with this last week and decided on the Cobb front mount. No trimming and it did pretty much go in without any issues and it is also the step design. I paired this with an AP V3 with the stage 1 aggressive map(93oct) and the car went from 290 whp/300ft. lbs to 360whp/379 ft. lbs

The car is a night and day difference and wouldn't do a single thing different.

ER requires cutting. Still a very good intercooler though.

Cutting really isn't a big deal. You can't see anything you cut, and none of it is essential parts. I love my ER intercooler.

Forgive my ignorance but do the 'step' designs affect air flow to the radiator (on either side)?

Thanks.

Karl.

I was a little concerned about airflow when i bought the cobb, but i havent had any issues. in addition, there are three or four companies with the stepped intercooler design so i felt pretty comfortable that it wouldnt be an issue.

op, one other thing to consider is if you want to reuse the stock quick connectors on the hot and cold side pipes or go with something that has its own hose clamps and piping. reuse of the stock connectors makes installation reallllllly simple. i opted for the cobb because it is a stepped core and it does not reuse the stock connectors and the piping is slightly larger on the intercooler. plus i wanted the hard pipe on the cold side to go with my ER chargepipe. not sure how much of a difference it makes but that is what i wanted.

If it helps you at all, here are some logs of my car with the ETS. 3rd and 4th gear pull.

EDIT: Can't upload a csv for some reason.
Beginning of run with air intake temp of 86 degrees F. Ended run at near the top of 4th gear at 92 degrees F.
