So Whose Going to Buy the New Performance Edition Retrofit PowerKit?
I'm definitely contemplating buying it for my 2012 135 M-Sport which has the N55 motor. I can't wait! 20 more hp and 32ft lbs of torque for $550. Hell yea please! I could care less about the new cooling fan that comes with the other power kit personally. I'm probably just going to get a new intercooler when I could find one for the N55. I'm sure I just haven't looked hard enough.
I work for a BMW dealership in Tampa FL (Reeves BMW) so I'm waiting for the word from BMW regarding the release date. I heard early August but the Southern Region Accessory Sales Manager told me Friday that it should be in the next couple of weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed. For what it cost and what you get I think it evens itself out if you know what I mean. It's a good deal and a good piece of mind knowing it's covered under warranty. That's why I'm sold on it. I thought about doing the JB3/4 on my car but I'm little nervous for some reason. Plus I don't need 400hp. I'd be happy with 320-350.

Talked to my CA about this yesterday, he said its a simple coding job so all he would charge is the standard coding fee of $130.
Is that possible? |

What about the newly available flash from Active? Simple programming also, good gains and no hard parts to be installed...

Impossible. $130 probably for the hour of coding. I'm guessing $130 is their labor rate. You have to pay for the flash on top of that. The rep told me $550-599 when it comes out. I would say that $130 plus the $550-$599 all said and done.

He said I wouldn't be charged for the coding because it should be universal and I would only be charged for the hour of coding. I would only pay for the labor part of the reflash. His understanding was its simply a reflash just like the N54 reflash that is part of the recall.
Maybe he was mistaken? |

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=553916 The contents of the package and flash or software for the Performance Edition Retrofit I was told will be $550-$599 by the BMW Rep. You buy this retrofit and whatever labor is to install it and you have 320hp and 332tq auto/DCT 317tq manual Last edited by GT1281; 08-13-2011 at 08:35 PM.. |

Thanks for the clarification! So this means 130 + 599 then? For 20 HP, I will pass.
BUT if this included the ///M button on the 1///M to allow the user to control it, then I would consider it. =b |

I think more is included but I'm yet to get all the details. Like I said earlier I like the fact the it's covered under warranty and you don't have to worry about anything when you bring the car in for service.

Eh, we have a 120k mile warranty on the HPFP(not sure if that covers the injectors too(fingers crossed))
As far as tuning goes, it's a cat and mouse game. I am still curious what was included in the N54 software recall before I look into flashing my car. Heh, it even reminds me of jailbreaking the iPhone, most of the software revisions are due to jailbreakers finding ways to inject their code to "free the enduser from Apple's walled garden" Random question: why are the cheapest and cleanest 135i's for sale in Florida? Sorry for being a bit off topic fellow 1addicts! |

Clean as in lowest mileage and best options set compared to other places. I debated flying to FL just to check a bunch of them out!
I am in northern California and the cheapest 135i here currently (after I bought mine) was $28k for a 40k-mile base model... (Not at a dealer) But I was restricting my search to 6MT. So maybe the 6MT population is higher over there? Quote:

That doesnt sound like a bad idea even if you aren't interested in the flash. The heat around here is to much in the summer time. It feels like my car just wants to pull over and die. I'm going to look into that and see if I can make a kit or just get all those parts.
