Should I choose ARMA Supercharger or not?
Hi there, I'm very new to here.
Recently, I considered to hoist up my 120i. It seems that very few company produce the s/c kits for our N46 engine. Then I come here and find ARMA. A bit tempting to choose it to boost my bimmer. But probably still some issues in their products. (the thread in 3-series forum) And very few threads speaking of them. Are there any factors I should take into account or prepare in advance? (except price! LOL) I haven't done any mods to my 120i. Or What do you guys think is the best bolt on mod for more power without voiding the warranty? Maybe someone will suggest directly to go for 135i, but I think tuning will be another world where I can get more fun. |

you can tune a 135... i dont see the point in buying a base model econobox then trying to get performance from it...

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just trade your 128 for a 135?

Doesn't look like it does much better than that 325i. I'd say put the 8k into a faster car. You can get a lot more out of a Japanese car with the same amount of money, if all you're looking for is power/straight line acceleration..

I would have went with the 135i for my weekend car, but after doing research and seeing all the problems the 135i has, I decided to get a new 370z and twin turbo it. I'm making more horsepower/ torque than any 135i I have seen on here so far and it has been very reliable with zero issues so far. Not that all the 135i's are going to have the same problems, but it seems for the most part, there's still major issues with the 135i. Also, the 128i is a AWESOME autocross/ track car with the right suspension and you could only benefit from adding a little more power.

THAT being said...still do not understand why you would spend over 6k on a SC kit for a 128. Any suspension stuff you do to it you could also do to a 135i...and you're never going to get the power from a 128 you could from the 135 for anywhere near the cost... |
