Why? Sorry...I'm not incredibly versed on turbo cars.. but wouldn't it be easier to...
1- swap to larger turbos 2- larger front mounted intercooler (FMIC) 3- dial up the boost 4- tune I don't understand why one would put a supercharger on a car with turbos... sorry.. |

You can do it properly with a positive displacement blower that has a clutch to disengage the pulley when the appropriate turbo rpm is reached. |

As you say, it's generally used to reduce lag, such as: http://www.greencarcongress.com/2005..._vws_new_.html But the 1M already has small turbos and not much lag, so it's be a lot of complexity and weight for little gain (which is probably why BMW didn't do it). Now if you swapped the turbos for larger ones then it might be worthwhile to reduce the lag, but the OP suggested leaving the turbos stock... Could it be done? Probably yes. Should it be done? Probably no...

I'd switch out the turbos for a pair of warp nacelles.

No it demonstrates what happens when you don't right-size your turbochargers and can't run a sequential setup.
The other thing it demonstrates is that both cars are limited by traction and comparing four-figure HP cars to 1Ms and VWs is irrelevant. EDIT: Let's also overlook the fact the Ford GT has an extra FIVE HUNDRED horsepower. Yeah, lets chalk all the advantages up to twincharging. Last edited by ZCP M3; 09-29-2011 at 01:51 PM.. |

It demonstrates the basic assertion that twin charging has potential

Lol
I never said it would be practical or worthwile in my opinion, just letting it be known it can be done and has benefits. If you have to ask you are probably better off paying someone else to design your twin-charged N54. |
