Rogue Engineering makes the best SSK ever! I love the one you guys installed on my E46 M3. Seriously, all these BMWs should come stock with an RE Octane SSK!

It will work on the stock 1M steering wheel.

It will fit and Robert is right the part number should be 32300430403 for the BMW alcantara trim. It does not come with the M logo and it does not have the indentation as seen on the original M trim piece. This is why I am going to try to wrap the original piece myself.

If you're ok with the OEM alcantar trim piece, here is a DIY I did a while back on my M3:
