OT: Music from your school days.
I went to primary school 1972 to 1978 and high school 1979 to 1984. I think it's fair to say you will always love the popular music of the time you are at highschool whether you want to or not, more so as the years go by.

Gap toothed Kit Hain needed love back in 1978 when this toon spent 18 weeks in the Top 40 from August to December 1978, eventually reaching number one. Marshall Hain _Dancing In The City_ (1978) If you're a stranger here And you need some action We have a remedy That could really catch on Pleased to see another face At light-up time If you're feeling dull and run-down We can really make you shine Dancing in the city Alleys that we run through Now we've just begun to Have fun tonight Can you feel the darkness call Let the streets have their way They'll carry you on 'til morning And steal your soul away The Ravages Of Time 1978 Now Verdict: Not too bad. The teeth she paid for are better than the ones she was born with.

Supernaut formed in 1974 and had a number one hit in July 1976 with "Both Ways" produced by Molly Meldrum (before he fell off his house). The 'Nauts are channeling The Spiders From Mars here but Gary Twinn seems to be getting his Robert Plant on. The lead singer is Gary Twinn who has explained in interviews over the years that the inspiration for the song was a bass player who was once in the band. I Like It Both Ways _Supernaut_ (1976) Johnny is a guy who can't make up his mind He says "I like it both ways" Johnny's world is inside out His daddy thinks he's insane He goes out on the town, he flashes around Is his mind deranged? Couples walk by, he watches them all To him they're all the same "I like it both ways" When Johnny's with Julie, he tell her she's his girl He says "I'll love you always" She's got love to find within his schizophrenic mind Because he likes it both ways One day it's a rose, another day a thorn He just can't make the choice Like when he seems so hard to find He can't make up his mind between a high or low pitched voice "I like it both ways" (Ring! Ring!) "I like it both ways" Johnny is a guy who can't make up his mind He says "I like it both ways" Johnny's world is inside out His daddy thinks he's insane Insane … … I like it both ways. The Ravages of Time. Supernaut circa 1976 Gary Twinn in 2011 Verdict: Very Good to Dorian Grayesque. Countdown Spectacular 2007 Gary on RocKwiz

Pearl Jam's Ten came out when I was 13 and shaped my interest in music in a big way for the next few years.
I still know most of the word's to Ice House's Man of Colours album too, which I was given on cassette a couple of years earlier a played over and over. Happy New Year, everyone |

A tribute to Geno Washington. "You were Michael the lover, the fighter that won" refer to "Michael (the Lover)", a Geno Washington song. Dexy's Midnight Runners _Geno_ (1980) Back in '68 in a sweaty club (Oh, Geno) Before "Jimmy's Machine and The Rocksteady Rub" (Oh Geno) On a night when flowers didn't suit my shoes After a week of flunkin' and bunkin' school The lowest head in the crowd that night Just practicin' steps and keepin' outta the fights Academic inspiration, you gave me none But you were "Michael (The Lover)" The fighter that won But now just look at me Yes, I'm looking down at you No, I’m not bein’ flash It’s what I’m built to do That man took the stage, his towel was swingin' high (Oh Geno) This man was my bombers, my Dexy's, my high (Oh Geno) The crowd they all hailed you, and chanted your name But they never knew like we knew Me and you were the same And now you're all over, your song is so tame You fed me, you bred me, I'll remember your name The Ravages Of Time 1982 2011 Verdict: He was never an oil painting, but definitely wreckage.

All I can say to that is .. don't stop moving to the S Club beat.
My son did a dance to this song at his Kindy farewell performance with his classmates! Heavy samples from _Billie Jean_.

Have been listening to TripleM today for the first time in a long time... brings back memories of the old tunes I used to listen to!
90's had some of the best stuff... Pearl Jam, Metallica, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Radiohead and the list goes on. |
