Hook Up My Blinder M27

Hey Folks, just picked up the blinder M27 laser diffuser for my 2012 135i. Im wondering if its worth mounting both units on the front of the car and leave the rear naked or one on the front and back.

Does anyone have any advice or experience on this????

Also, Im wondering where I can find a wiring diagram on the 2012. I have some electronics including my new passport 9500xi that I want to hardwire install this weekend.

Any help is appreciated, I'm new hear, so I will document all of this and re-post some stuff for you guys

In my state, only speed cameras shoot laser from behind, and you really have to be an idiot to get caught by them, so I only protect the front of my car. But I remember reading somewhere that CA cops like to sit on on-ramps and shoot laser from behind.

Alright Folks, I have heard nothing back so I am going to try and do this one on my own and I will post the process here.

First thing I did was completely Remove the front bumper. This is the easiest and cleanest way to mount the sensors on the front. The area is very tight down there, and space is limited so, trust me, its a time saver, especially for easy it is to take off the bumper.

-Then using the leveler, I mounted the sensors, and the hid wire around the front.
- Next, using electrical tabs, I evened out the length of the sensor connecting wire so then would be easier to deal with through out the rest of the install.

I can use this info too, I am installing the Laser Interceptor product. (I mounted both sensors in the front grills...) stereo mute is optional, but it would be nice to hook up.....

Here's how I installed my Escort RD and Laser Interceptor. I turned the LI volume to zero because the radar detector already alerts for laser and is much less annoying. Sorry, no audio mute.

Yes, thats about the conclusion that I got to as well. There doesn't seem to be an Audio mute wire, at least nowhere by the Stereo harness.

But....

SOLID BROWN IS THE GROUND WIRE
GREEN/RED STRIPE IS THE 12V Constant

I used a tap-a-circuit in fuse #5 spot for power on (to laser jammer) when engine is on (as per the DIY informative thread "let's wire my passport..." Once I decide where I am mounting my V1 I'll decide where to get the power, either from the map light console, or I may use a T-connector into the jammer power circuit or OBD2 port (with V1 Savvy option)
Since I have my interior torn apart I am considering whether or not to custom install a remote display so that I can run main unit in "dark mode"

Ok, so after mounting the diffuser modules and reattaching the number, I used electrical tape to wrap the wires together (this makes it easier to run them, + additional protection from heat and it makes it harder to notice the custom job).

I found the best entry place through the firewall to be through the main one electrical firewall bracket located on the drivers side. You get to it by removing the the plastic cover over the brake fluid reservoir.


Next, Start dismantling the interior, Radio needs to come out as well as the the drivers said cover under the steering wheel.

Be Careful pulling everything, there are lots of little devices connected to all of the molding of the interior, light, alarms, speaker etc.


Ok, now you need to locate the rubber nipple the houses all of the wires coming from the engine compartment, through the firewall. You can easily see and reach it once you have removed the plastic brake reservoir cover and puled back the rubber cover and after you removed the drivers side under steering wheel cover.


For this next part, I used an old coat hanger to pull new wires through the firewall. First put the coat hanger through on from the interior, then cover the wire terminal before tape (I used a latex glove). Then wrap it all in electrical tape attaching it to the coat hanger, once its all secure, tightly, pull it through the firewall and unwrap it.


Next, I drilled out the holes for the power button and light and mounted the speaker underneath the plastic component under the stereo using a drill and a clap to hold it down (note** make sure there is enough room where you drill to mount cause it gets tight back there) Here is what mine looked like.



Now splice in to the stereo wires for power.

Solid BROWN = Ground
Green/Red = Constant 12V

(Sorry guys, no audio mute option on Navi equipped BMW) and there are some other posts covering it, I decided to leave it alone on mine.

Now run all the connections and test. If working properly, put it all back together.
