Nick - I was talking to my boss about this... (since he handles these kinds of tickets before) He said he has seen that happen before. Seems that on really big traffic offenses that they tell you the fine... but then it gets run thru the local (German)court system. They all take add a little but more to your ticket fine.
One of teh guys I work with got a DUI last year. The Polizei told him he would loose his lic for one year, and have to pay 900 euro fine. But a few months later when he got his ticket thru his boss... the fine had jumped to 1,700 euros. Everyone wants a piece of you! lol Welcome to DE. PS: What did that lawyer say that I gave you? |

Not only that Nick... his job gave him a "fine" as well! I did not know they could even do that!! They put him on probation (he did not get promoted)plus he had to go to an ASAP classes too. Then he has to pay another "fine" when he makes his new drivers lic - even thru the Army. So... it has been over a year now and he just takes the DB (train) every day from Nurnberg to Bamberg. Costs him 200+ euros per month for the Bahn kart(tickets). He refuses to drive again. Probably best since it wasn't his first DUI. |

I had a guy that worked for me in Heidelberg who would not drive at all but because of street racing back in the states. Very adamant about it too. His wife took him to work.

Might want to consider a TomTom from Mediamarkt, the XXL Live model (Euro 150 w/VAT Form) covers speed cameras, updated daily, and mobile units are picked after 30 minutes. Has paid for itself several times over since the wife got moved to K-town 2 years ago (if she would just keep it turned on)
