Bad stitching?
Hey guys, I couldn't help but notice that the craftmanship(?) of the leather in my 1M isn't quite up to the standard I would expect. It's rippled down the sides, and the passenger seat base already seems to be stretched. I only had a passenger in it for 10kms, and I've only done 50 in total!
Are you cars like this too? |

I had a new lounge delivered a couple of weeks ago and it was a bit too rippled for my liking. I had a chat with the store and they sent out The Leather Doctor. Fixed in 10 min. They use a heat gun which looks like a paint stripper, and a wet towel. Gently heat the leather and then quickly cool the leather down with the wet towel. Looks great now. Definitely speak to your dealer as I'm sure they will sort it out for you. Don't let this spoil your enthusiasm for the car..... Enjoy

Mine was very similar to yours and it remains that way. They are creased at the joints and they are not perfect but its matters less now that the car is not 'brand new'. As long as the seat leather is new and taut, they are good.

Same with mine. I mentioned this in the forum when I got the car and having come straight from a 335i and a MkV GTi I was a little dismayed to see such a drop in quality.

Maybe I can't see the problem in your photo? You should definitely talk to the dealer if it bothers you, but I suspect he will just say that they all look like that.
My wife has a Volvo so I know what you mean about the different leather, but really I think it's just a style/design difference not a quality issue. The BMW is meant to have slightly loose fitting, rippled leather. That's the "sophisticated" look they were going for. The Volvo has very thick, very tight leather designed to be functional in a Swedish way and to limit the damage the kids can do.

Mine was not rippled like yours when it got delivered. Nor is the X3. However, I do noticed the quality of the 1er was not as good as my E46 318i.
