Teaching chastity at high schools as the solution to STIs and yet the only nation that can put Curiosity on Mars. Hard to fathom the same culture holds both realities.

One of my exes had an automatic yellow 120Y coupe. Very sporty! I could take off with full throttle, from standstill, on full lock, in the gravel, and still not get a hint of wheel-spin.
Back to Curiosity. Absolutely amazing achievement! |

But seriously, it's like saying that cavemen could find Australia, yet they only just worked out how to get to Antarctica in 2012? |

I loved the bit in the news where the Higgs-boson scientists are having a hissy fit because the Mars thing has blown them off the nerds-and-geeks front page. Aside from the fact that a newspaper editor has the attention span of a gnat (so what did they expect), the poor dears are confusing science and technology. Higgs-boson is science, Mars exploration is technology. For that matter, building the CERN super-collider is technology (as is making a BMW meth system that works); and making sense out of any data that Curiosity sends back is science.

There's a lot in those four words.

1907 not 2012, I think this was a year 5 school project, but even that was a long time ago. |

Anyone fancy a trip? It's one way unfortunately. Today's reality TV is nothing compared to this.
