The 135i's are pretty damn fast. The fastest car off the line I ever owned was a 2010 WRX. It would fly from dead stop to 60 in about 4.7 due to the AWD grip and only 2 shifts to get to 60. I would surprise many cars- although after 60, forget it. I'll bet it would be pretty close to 60 versus a 135i although the 135 would take it at some point after that. The newer STI's are about the same to 60, maybe a tad slower due to an extra shift- 6 speed to get to 60 versus WRX 5 speed. Although they make up for it with the extra HP once they get going. And if the roads were wet- that WRX was almost untouchable- that's when I had the most fun with it!

Ok, I have 2 favorite race situations in this car so far. Both took place after I had the PPK installed and both happened with my gf as my passenger (she always eggs me on to race, true story).
Most recently we were on our way to a friend's birthday party. He and I used to race in the NASA Honda Challenge together. As we're driving over there, I hear an extremely mean sounding V8 coming from behind me. It's a Jeep SRT-8. Normally I wouldn't even bother but it was so loud I was thinking that it could be modified. We end up lined up next to each other at a red light and the gf says: "don't you dare let him pull ahead of you." How could I let her down? When the light turned green, I didn't launch for fear of being too obnoxious but wanted to see if he went for it. Of course he did, what was I thinking. Honestly, it was much faster than I thought it would be. We were very even through my first 2 gears but shortly into 3rd gear I pulled away by about 3/4 of a car and shut it down shortly after I started pulling - once dominance is established, I rarely go much past that. He pulls in behind me as I'm making a right turn and follows me around the corner. I'm just going normally now but hear that musical V8 start to scream again as he makes the turn. I let him catch up to me and gun it with the same result as the first time - close at first and then I pull away a bit. At the next intersection he goes straight and I turn left, I try to throw him a peace sign but he doesn't even look over. As we are now slowly getting to my friend's house and making our way through the maze of side streets, I can hear a familiar sound... I pull up to the house and right on my tail is my buddy in the Jeep! We were on our way to the same freaking house. I should have known that going to a racing buddy's party would also mean that other car guys would show lol. As we get out to head into the party, I say "well that was a fun drive over here, thanks for the runs." I get nothing in response... he ignores me and goes into the party. I follow and just enjoy my night, never speaking a word to this guy who is apparently butt hurt that his mighty SRT-8 got beat by a little BMW. Whatever, it was fun. The other one was against an SLK-350 and was really even funnier because the guy couldn't drive. Same deal with this one where the gf "forces" me to run him. We're in a 2 lane left hand turn lane, he's on the inside. When the light turns green, we both take off relatively fast but bonehead starts to get sideways halfway through the turn and I legitimately feel like he's going to drift right into the side of my car. As he catches it he backs way off and I just go, at this point to just get away from this maniac. Again, I didn't feel the need to go crazy because technically I may not have had the opportunity to "beat" him but I certainly made him feel like a douche, which is just as good in my book, so I let him do the 'ol ricer flyby. One mile down the road, he gets into the right turn lane to make his way onto a 3 lane road that I, too, need to turn on to. He turns aggressively, I follow aggressively, 3/4 of the way through this guy again almost loses control! It was less than the first time but still... and this time he would have ended up in oncoming traffic, not the side of my car. He "caught it" with a car length lead since he was ahead of me. Seriously, within 2 seconds I was a car or 2 ahead of him. Not sure if it was a case of a really bad driver or if that car is just not very impressive but either way, 135i ftw. Cliffs for the sake of the topic: add the Jeep SRT-8 and SLK-350 as cars that we're faster than. Drive safe!

At the track the other day the 1 had no problem passing several boss mustangs, a gt 500, an e46 m3, a couple nismo 370z's, several vettes and all manner of gutted, race prepped Hondas. All I had done at the time was swap out rfts. Im not a fan of the suspension on the street, but at the track where the body roll is more progressive, it actually felt better.

Reference times for mine are a 13.6, many years ago and mods not equipped, so I should be slightly quicker than that now. I ran hers, once and only once, with luggage in the car, to a 13.7. You're absolutely right about the subarus falling off after 60 tho. I'd love a turbo swap (VF39, VF43, Super 16g), but I love the response I have for autox. On slicks maybe? Sub 4 seconds is supercar territory. |

The older STi's (2004ish) definitely took 3 shifts to reach 60mph. I definitely remember this because at the time I was in the market for an STi or an Evo. I can't speak about the newer STi's though.

Not a race but something I'll contribute that sure was fun. . . .
Three lane divided highway, uphill 20 percent grade, stopped at a traffic light, a Yamaha R-1 on my left, no one on my right. Straight, no entrances ahead for 3/4 mile. Light turns green, he is off like a shot and has about 60 feet on me. I hit the go pedal. He is opening up his bike and I'm hanging w/ him to 118, when he looks quickly to his right and sees me. I don't think he expected anyone to be there. Of course he could blow my doors off. I'm figuring he brought it up to 110 then backed off. I got to within 30 feet of him before I started to back down as I was not about to pass him on the right. I'm 55. I've got my flame suit on :-)

There is no way a stock 135i will even hang with bolton evo 9. stock for stock its a driver's race but an evo with boltons is at least a 110 trapping car without a monkey behind the wheel. Add e85 into the mix and they are easy 115 trapping cars. My buddy has an evo 9, boltons + e85 + twin plate + 273s and he slaps me around like a hoe... Im on cobb stage 1 aggressive with catback... plus I am a significantly better driver than him.

I have also had a full bolton with hondata tune RSX-S and its no comparison to a 135.. not even close they trap 94 stock and with boltons MAYBE 101. Unless they are boosted they are a joke.

Get a FMIC and downpipe and step up to Cobb Stage 2+ and give him a surprise. FWIW I had an Evo9 with all the the usual bolt ons and E85 and my current car will poop on it. I would get pooped on if they have a stock appearing turbo upgrade though lol. |

Slip on first page is on 93 octane and the slip on the 4th page (my most recent) is on a 93 and E85 mix. |

There is a big difference between a mild bolt on EVO9 and one running what your buddy has. yes, there is a way that a stock 135i will hang, ive done it. did i say beat? no. but i didnt get "slapped around like a hoe". |
