bms dci oil free?
Hi guys and gals. I searched but could;t find an answer. Are the BMS DCI filters oil free or do they need to be oiled.
What is the best way to clean them, just water??? Thanks, |

yup oil free. How often are you supposed to clean them? Like every 20k miles or something?

Are you guys sure about that? The red color when they're new is oil, isn't it? I used a K&N Filter Cleaning Kit and theyre a nice healthy shade of red again, whereas they used to be a filthy dull gunky grey. The process wasn't too bad either. Thoroughly rinse, apply cleaner, let sit for 10 min, rinse off, repeat if necessary, let sit overnight to dry, then g2g.
Heres a good informational link Last edited by IronPickle; 11-14-2012 at 05:09 PM.. |

. When I got mine they just came in a box, no plastic or anything over the intakes that I remember (which would indicate they are oiled to keep the oil from getting all over the box from shipping/storing).Regardless, I'm getting two 7" new intakes when they become too ugly and dirty. Being 2" bigger than the BMS intakes I believe http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o00_s00_i00 |

I have cp-e DCIs which are oiled and they came in plastic like Angerman said. They also feel oily, especially around the silicon coupler bit. I'm sure if they were dirty and needed re-oiling you probably wouldn't feel the oil as much though.
I was told by cp-e however that with their dry filters, you can choose to oil them if you want which will just make them an oiled filter. This may be the same with the BMS filters.
