172 mile 3 yr old 135i!
Hi 135i guys - I just purchased from a BMW dealer in Scotland a lovely very late 2009 build 135i, which the lady virtually never used for 3 years. I researched the N54 / N55 pretty thoroughly before buying-(!) and at the end of the day, whilst it’s the HPFP that concerns; I just absolutely love the way it flows down the road. Any advice from owners on making those pumps last, or your experiences? I don’t want that BMW pre-prime +detune software, of course! All the best to those enjoying driving these!

Yeah, crazy stuff - hoping to double the miles soon!
Visited Texas a couple of times, when Joe Generic's was still going in Austin - a unique experience. Cheers, Rob |

Not sure if you can have a new hpfp fitted without coding.
Congrats on the purchase, that is a cracking find! Any pictures?

Not much you can do to make the pump last longer. Great find on the car. My concern would be fuel issues related to how long the car has been sitting. Assuming the dealer you bought from went thru it you should be ok but when a car sits for that many years without use the fuel can go bad. Condensation can set into parts of the engine or fuel system and cause all sorts of issues. Not to say that's going to be an issue for you but something to consider. A family member purchased a motorcycle with similar story to your car. Turns out he finds massive rusting inside the tank and problems with the fuel system. All fixable but it only happened because previous owner let it sit without use.
Drive it and enjoy. I love my 09. Post pics when you can. |

Thanks very much - collecting nxt wk, so no pics yet; sorry. Delays at DVLA swapping my reg onto car. Sedona met orangey red, the lemon interior, black carpets, those direction following xenons. Want to keep that original software - sooo responsive! Cheers

Great find! But, you need to dump ALL the fluids ASAP and really go over the car, like L8 says there could be some corrosion and especially in internal area's where it's just been sitting so long; I hope for your sake that there aren't any. I'd love a 'like new' car but I'd always be worried about parts failing at big cost, I just wish there was an easy way to tell what's going on inside it. Believe it or not cars are made to be driven and driving one not enough can be as bad as driving one too rough.
Best of luck with this one! |

As others have said, flush the fluids. I would not be worried about the coding robbing any power. I had mine coded once and it actually felt a little more peppy than before the HPFP went tits up.

Tires won't dry rot due to sitting for a few years (I still have my stock RFTs from my 2009 in my garage, they're fine), but they definitely will flat spot if stored under load. Cars that sit on dealer lots without being moved for a few weeks will flat spot, but it goes away after a few minutes of driving. Not sure if you can do permanent damage if they sit too long.
