Cracked Charge Pipe
My charge pipe cracked today. The plastic flange at the throttle body entry cracked plus the c-clip that holds the charge pipe is now missing.
I'm planning on ordering the ER charge pipe (using the 'factory' diverter valves and BOV) Questions: 1. Does the ER charge pipe come with the C-clip? 2. Which model is the 1M's DV pipe (2006-2009 or after 2009?). Thanks guys |

The ER charge pipe doesn't come with a C-clip or the O-ring, so you need to reuse both from your stock pipe.
To avoid the hassle of ordering the incorrect CP, I would just order it through Harold at HPAutowerks.

I agree, Harold should be able to get you the c clip and make sure you get the right pipe. Don't get confused on the install, the new pipe will delete the resonator sound box that comes off the stock charge pipe. I completely removed the box from my car.

What does deleting the sound box do? Will it make it louder or quieter?

I deleted it too, I also have ER and re-used stock dv set. In terms of noise I think there is no difference to speak of versus stock. If anything, I bet it is quieter by the smallest of margins. The sound thingy is the single most useless piece in the whole engine bay so better get rid of it anyway; if it makes something on the stock car probably that is unnecessary turbulance.

All after market CPs delete the sound pipe, so it doesn't matter how it looks because you can't reinstall it.

If you are still under warranty get the stock CP with C-clip and o-ring from the dealer and then order the ER charge pipe. Your 1m should still be covered and its common for these plastic CP to crack or break off.

Are you sure the C-Clip and O-Ring is gone? The throttle body is aluminum and the CP is plastic. Most failures occur at the welded seam between the flange and the pipe, so the C-Clip and O-Ring should still be intact. The only way you could lose it is if the throttle body sheared off which is higly unlikely.

Here is the stock CP vs the ER CP. Notice the Pipe that starts in between the 2 stock valves, that is the sound baffling tube.

I'd strongly recommend going to dealership and have them replace everything first under warranty. Get the car running right again then remove factory pieces and install ER charge pipe.
Best to know everything is ok before adding new pieces. Plus then you will have a new factory replacement part to put back on the car when you sell or if you need to go back to stock for some other reason. |

The c-clip is definitely gone. The failure occurred around the c-clip portion. The o-ring may still be there though. |

Thanks guys for the advise.
I managed to get them to replace the factory charge pipe under warranty. Will change to ER or BMS charge pipe later. Any reviews on BMS cp? |

I just had the dealership replace a blown CP under warranty. The service manager told me that the replacement part was a different p/n than the original, and was improved and stronger. He also told me that an aftermarket CP would not void the warranty, although he had to throw in the comment that a device like the JB4 certainly would.

ER CPs sell like cup cakes due to their customization options. I haven't heard anything bad from my customers about BMS CPs |

Only thing I can recommend is have the dealership install the CP or remove before ever going in for service. Caveat, the likelihood of actually having engine failure is exceedingly low. Last edited by robertm; 10-18-2013 at 09:07 AM.. |

Thanks for the info. I added this thread too to the issue #5c section of the 1M issues log sticky (http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...27&postcount=1).
