JB4 with DCT
So I was driving my friend's 135 with DCT the other day. No mods, everything is stock (even RFTs) except for JB4 in Map 5. First off, the thing pulls like a mother, its pretty crazy. For the first 30 mins or so I was driving it in manual and it was as expected, but then I threw it into auto because I wanted to see how the JB interacted with the DCT. I had it in sport mode (not button) and it felt basically identical to manual, which I thought was nice and very quick.
Then I decided to push the sports button along with it...and wow! The car was almost too fast for its own good, I couldn't keep the RFTs from losing traction in 1/2/3. The only thing that was weird was the shifting, felt very abrupt/jerky and almost shook the car. It also took a little bit longer for the power to kick in during WOT (also felt this in manual with the sports button pressed, so im guessing its a result of the sports button). I'm looking to get this for my car so I wanted to know if this is normal or if this was just my experience. |

My '11 DCT does this as well. I usually leave sport off unless I'm doing a 40+ roll-on, as it can get annoying/worrying. I haven't updated my JB4 in nearly a year and a half, so it may have something to do with that. Unless of course, you have the traction control on, which would be the reason for the jerking/interruption of power.
I'm by no means an expert on the subject, but I just thought I'd mention mine does the EXACT same thing. |

Ok, thats good to know. I'm pretty sure I had traction control on so that could have been one of the issues. Do you find the shifts to be smoother with DTC off?

That's my exact set up so far as well. 2011 135i jb4 dct. I have the same experience with the shifting, but then again so does my buddies e90 m3. I have actually grown to like it since it makes the shifting even more dramatic, I have convinced myself there isn't anything to worry about.

Mine has this same delay when in auto mode and it drives me insane. Only since I installed the JB4 too.. Just driving along, mash the pedal and it downshifts, then there's a good 2 second delay where it seems that it can't figure out what it wants to do. Really, really annoying. Luckily though, most of the time i'm in manual/sport mode anyways.
