Getting a C63 before selling my 135i..
Ok so the title says it all. There are really good deals on 2013 C63s out there, that apparently end in Dec 31st. After that date you can still buy it, but you won't be allowed to lease the car, which is what I'm trying to do.
Problem is, I still have my 135i. I'm paying relatively low for it monthly, it's in great condition and I have extra stuff that I'm giving away like my BMW Performance exhaust and my winter wheels and tires. The problem is: unless I'm incredibly lucky, there's no way I find someone to take my car in the winter time on such short notice (it's on leasebusters already). Car dealers are offering me at best 5k$ less than the current buyout price, if not 7. So my choices are: 1. Lose 5k (that I could put as cash down), and sell the car to the dealer, which is going to make *at least* the same amount in benefits when selling it.. 2. Get the c63 anyways, and loose 763$ per month until I find a buyer, +1500$ incentive... 3. Keep the 135i, and forget about the C63 </3 Is there something I'm missing? What do you guys think? I love my 135i but I've been dreaming about this car for the past 2 years now, and now I really have the opportunity to get one... |

how many months do you have left in your lease?
you can always buy a CPO C63 AMG later, right? It's not as if you can't get the car ever again! |

I have 13 months left. The thing is, MB are not allowed to lease 2013 cars forever, and now is the last month. Actually November was their last month, but they stretched it to December to get rid of them. The rebates and interest rates are very interesting!

If you are that impatient that you cant wait another year then eat the 5-7k. Maybe if you were stuck in something that was not reliable or you needed something bigger for the family...then maybe. Otherwise, save your cash and get a 2014 next year.

it makes really no sense to want to 'get a good deal' and then throw money away on the car you are already leasing. You'll probably lose more money on the 135i than you will save on an 'interesting' lease deal.
just wait it out and get one later, IMO. From what i see....the C63 AMG will also be sold as a 2014 model....so there's really not much of an emergency, right? |

Yeah there is. Kind of
The 2014 model is a limited edition with 507 hp, and is already out of production. There are only 3 coupes 2014 left in all of Quebec, they'll all be gone by next year for sure, kind of like the 1M was gone very quickly. They give 15000$ rebate on 2013 models... I'm not sure I'll get that, ever. Now is the only time I can actually afford a C63! That's why the choice is so hard :S |

I wouldn't lose the $5-7K. C63s 2 years from now will be just as good or better than the '13 you are looking at. I know we all go nuts about cars on these forums but it's not like they will stop making the the C63 or something like it in the future.

Like someone else mentioned before, losing five or $6000 on your car and getting a break on the other one almost makes it a wash

Your first payment isn't due usually for 6 weeks so you have 6 weeks to sell the car. Put down something minimum to lock up the deal. Sell the car within 6 weeks, and refi the car with a different bank/credit union so you can redo your payments and use proceeds from 135 as the new down.. It just gets tricky when it comes to prepaying if the car came with incentives (usually have to wait 3 months to refi).

If you get rid of your 135 and take a loss, you're 5-7K in the hole.
If you keep both, you have six and a half months to sell the car for your buyout before you've spent more than 5K. If you just wait, you can get a C63 later. You said this is the only time you can afford a C63. You want to lease a C63 and you can barely afford that? I don't mean to be rude or pry into your finances, but perhaps the C63 isn't the right car for you right now. I'm all for getting a car you love, but sometimes you just have to let something go instead of putting all of your money into it. After all the money you have to put in to make this deal, you won't even own it, it's a lease. And you said you could put that 5K as a down payment on a LEASE? Are you insane? |

So yeah I can wait for the next one, but to afford it I'd have to put something like 10000$ downpayment. I actually went to the dealer and he's offering 16k now, and he'd buy my car 26k for the 31 that I have to pay. In the end it's like a rebate of 11k, which is still pretty good if you ask me. I was just wondering if there was anything to be done to save a bit here and there. Thanks for all the input guys, I appreciate. |

It's not about the money is it?
My father gave up a 1957 T bird that he had ordered when my mom voiced the words "I'm pregnant" - they bought a 1957 VW and then I was born. On his deathbed, he regretted never having taken one of the gazillion chances to buy one before they priced out of control. He left me 10 times the amount a bird would have cost him but never bought one himself. I bought my 1-series, bought my wife the car she wanted, and paid off our house... Get the car you want. No one can tell you what to waste or what not to waste - I don't know what is in your bank account or how big a chunk $5K is, drive what you want. I spend roughly 10% of my waking hours behind the wheel - it's worth it to me to drive what I want.

I'm guessing if they are giving $15k rebates this car is not as in demand as the 1M.
They don't give rebates like that on cars that are flying off the shelves.

You can't wait until November or December 2014? That way your 1er would be closer to the lease due date.

I work for Park Place Motorcars - Mercedes in Grapevine, Texas and the c63 AMG is a badass car, but so is the 135i. I'd go for a 1M over the c63 myself. The performance in a straight line is about the same, not much of a difference and on a road course the BMW's beat it unless you go for a Black Series. I work on every kind of AMG everyday and while they are badass, they are very pricey to maintain. Of all the AMG's offered, the c63 is the one that feels that it handles the power the best. I had the new '14 SLS Black Series last week and that is just in a league of it's own. I had every opportunity to buy a c63...purchased a c250, slapped some wheels on her instead and just bought a BMW 135i for the track. The interior is the same and the c63 only comes in an auto. Just my $.02.
Not to mention, the new '15 C-Class looks like a smaller '14 S-Class...I'd hold out for that puppy.

Mercedes-Benz is actually talking about this model being the last of the 63's and badging it as a 55. MB is also speaking of dropping the V8's and using TT V6's instead. AMG is still thinking of keeping the BiTurbo 5.5 V8's but looking at the V6 option also.
