What to do with $2500?

I got run over by a Kia Sportage while I was running (I was in a crosswalk at the time) and have about $2500 to play with.

Goal: daily driver N54 with occasional track days.

Current mods: Cobb AP v3, M3 Control Arms, Koni Yellows, Cobb springs, Whiteline rear subframe bushing inserts.

Things I want to do: brake pads, downpipes/exhaust, front swaybar, FMIC, charge pipe.

Or just dump it into a 3.46 LSD?

I'd pay off debt with it. But if not that then do the LSD, I've heard food tastes better after such an upgrade

+1 on hope you're ok. I think the N54 puts down plenty of power and you'll find that you may hit limp mode more times than you'd like on those track days if you run a tune. I'd put the money in better shocks, set of track pads, maybe LSD or actual track day registration (which can get costly).

Save that to pay for your car if you still owe on it. If not the finish FBO and then do more suspension stuff

It all depends on how long you plan on keeping her, suspension parts are always a plus, LSD, Coilovers, M3 bits, everything else you mentioned you can do down the line.

And of course you can save it for a rainy day.

OP didn't ask for life advice guys.

Assuming you want to spend it on the car:
I'd do a LSD keeping the original final drive, then do a brake caliper rebuild w/ better pistons, boots, etc.

I'm pretty set on the retirement front. Gonna live a little now.

Just put the Konis on so I will stick with them for awhile.

I'm leaning towards brakes, FMIC, downpipes, fsb and a full fluid service.

But I still feel like an LSD would be the biggest bang for the buck in this car.

Oh BTW never underestimate the build quality of a Kia Sportage! Felt pretty solid at the time. I was lucky, I was able to still run the Portland Marathon six weeks later but no records were set!

At least they had insurance, I'm my area if I got hit by a Kia the driver would probably keep going and I would be SOL.

It sounds like you don't really want to do a lsd... Where I live I would be pressed to find a shop that I trust to do a job like that. Not many modded nice cars here. Maybe too big of a project?

Personally, I would get the 3.46 LSD.

When I finally install an LSD, will be going with the Quaife 3.46 Sport Diff. On the street, can never drive over 140 km/hr, so I don't mind getting the better gearing for better acceleration. An increase of ~10% torque to the wheels in all gears just by swapping the diff is a win-win for me.

Driver mod: some track training at BMWs M School.

Doing 1 day event will leave you with a little to put into car, which suspension bits would be a great investment to put your new skills to good use

3.46 LSD will make the car slower and harder to control than it already is due to the peaky nature of the torque curve.. more shifts (so you get lower torque, sooner), more wheelspin.

3.08 or 3.15 (M) LSD for sure

An Intercooler will be worthwhile if you don't use meth. Upgrade the charge pipe while you are at it. Maybe get a front sway bar if you still have the stock one.

I've been autocrossing since 94 and doing track days since 97, so while I'm not opposed to more driver's training, not really a priority at this point.

Get hit by a car...instantly think about mods once received the money...awesome!

However, that chunk of change is good start for either performance or handling or even both if you don't plan to spend too much, just enough to get some added fun in both directions.

If it were me, I would focus on one rather than both at the same time. That way, with the money you have, you can bust out all performance or all handling mods. Then worry about the next set of mods you need to do providing if there's enough $$ left over to do both.
I started with suspension/handling first just to prepare my car for performance mods that I've lately been adding on slowly.
I do it that way so that the car is already set up for the added power to come...

That's just me tho
