Small diff lock down bracket

I'm in the process of fabbing up a stout diff lockdown bracket. Was wondering if there was any interest in them? I should have pictures by next weekend if things go smooth (my car is getting and LSD installed). I only ask because I will make a jig to fab them up if anyone wants one. If there is no interest I won't make up a jig and just make it for my own car.. It will be a bolt in with a nut plate for where you have to bolt it to the sub frame. I'm doing that to ease the installation. This is much stronger then the one available that's made from steel rod and easier to install by far.

The cost will be $100 each plus shipping to any forum member.

These will take about a week each to fab up as I will be doing this in my spare time. If you want one, please send me a PM and I will respond with the paypal address. The welds on them going forward will be much better then mine. I had to do some welds on my back to get the position correct on the car. I made a jig for any I need to make going forward, now the welding will be MUCH easier and cleaner. Trying to weld on your back on jack stands sucks ass.... This is for the small pumpkin only (Auto).. This will fit both the coupe and convertible, this was designed for the convertible which has additional bracing which limits room. But this will fit both body styles. It's $100 each plus $15 for shipping..

I can't show you a picture directly from the rear because of the additional bracing on a convertible blocks most of the view. You can see some of it in the left side of the first picture. You can also see some bracing that goes directly under the pumpkin which is connected to the brace in the left side of the picture as well.

by next weekend I'll have a picture up. Simple, stronger then the black one around that's been made up costing $200. I have the design done, just waiting for my car to get the LSD installed so I can use it for a jig then make a jig from the completed part to reproduce them.

Not sure what problem you are trying to solve. Particularly since you don't even have you lsd installed yet.

I have already experienced wheel hop and the LSD is just going to make it worst at my power level... I love to play so I'm doing this upgrade now. Been around this type of problem more then a few times coming from the muscle car arena.

Small set back. The installer took my old open LSD out and the passenger side bearing fell apart. So it's going to take me longer to fab up these brackets. Locating bearings is my headache now.

No, these are hand built.

^^ This is why I'm curious as to what these look like.
To me it could just be a simple piece of plate something with holes drilled at both ends with a bushing or washer if you want to get fancy. I guess I don't understand the high price of something like this and is why I would like to see it.

High price? It's clear you have no idea what it takes to fab up something like this and the cheapest one out there is $200. So, if $100 is too much for you, you should not be looking at any at all. I did not start this post to have anyone gripe about the cost. If you're interested, then fine post and let me know. Otherwise move on.

That's exactly my point, I obviously don't understand what makes this effective and worth $100.
When I see it I will make up my own mind and try not to influence anyone else on here whether they should buy this or not, heaven forbid I get bullied for stating my own ignorance/opinion.

And on not knowing what it takes to fab something up, I won't say I'm a master fabricator, but I have done my share of CNC work, CAD/CAM programming, manual turning and milling, welding etc. I have a small idea of what it takes, but again, not 100% certain since I haven't really delved into what this does.

I don't know why I bother even posting because a response and deal with know it all's like you. I Was a mechanical design engineer for over 15 years with as much and more background then you state you have. As well as managing a fully staffed model shop So do me a favor, don't bother posting anything if it's negitive in content. Just go away.

Oh and by the way if you don't kniw the benefit of something like this, you don't know shit about cars and how a rear end loads up.

I've already admitted everything you said, I have very little experience in design, and don't understand exactly what this does, therefore I am here to learn. This is what a forum is for, am I correct? I'm not going to argue with you because I don't have an argument to make. I appreciate all of the knowledge on this forum and look forward to learning as much as I can.

Then you should ask questions and not just pass judgment. Brackets of this type stop wheel hop which when you get to a power level like my 135 (~450 hp at the crank) are a big issue like as in my 135. Good way to rip a half shaft in two. There are a few that make a bracket like this and the cheapest is $199 each and in my opinion will not be as robust as mine for the cost involved.

I do this stuff as a hobby and challenge so I can sell it at a low cost to members. I'm not in any way going to make a big profit to retire on, that's for sure lol.. When I had my 2008 600hp blown mustang, I fabbed custom engine mounts to deal with the abuse as the aluminum OEM's were starting to crack. So, I made them out of steel plates..

Hmm this is interesting.
I assume wheel hop is primarily an issue for a quick take-off, drag race type of situation?
Does a diff lock down like this have a substantial benefit for a track environment? I would think there would obviously be a benefit, just like stiffer bushings, stiffer everything would have a benefit of putting the power down more directly, but would it be noticeable, and benefit to a street/track DD?

It can be in any situation, drag racing, road racing, autocross name it. The eLSD that comes with these cars do harm when it comes to performance and being able to know what the car is going to do in turns, starting line or anything that would cause the rear tries to have a loss of traction. In the 1 series the eLSD uses the brakes to slow one tire down if it has a loss of traction. That in itself will not only cause a loss of time but power as well. The bracket stops the loading and unloading of the pumpkin (wanting to turn due to torque) which is what causes wheel hop.
