Looking for interest - cover for "ashtray"?

I'd like to lid a cover for the tray in front of the shifter to hide its contents. The armrest is an awkward place for sunglasses, and I hate having them visible in the car - a theft-magnet.

If anyone would be interested in purchasing a 3D-printed cover for the tray, please let me know in this thread. This would be substantially less expensive than replacing the tray with the Euro ashtray.

I haven't followed it up. I was thinking of a flat black plastic cover that would shield the contents of the tray from prying eyes.

Those are E84 X1 parts. Sure that these fit on a 1M ? Looks similar to those on my car though.

100% sure regarding the sunglasses holder fit, as I have them in my 1M. Just be sure to take the black one as that fits best colorwise. They'll fit throughout out the majority (if not all of) the E platform 1-3-5 series, they were just never officially released as accessory for the 1 series E8x.

That forward tray cover is what I'd like to fit to the 1M.

Artemis I sense we have an innocent but significant misunderstanding: the X1 sunglasses tray that I'm referring to (compatible to the E82/1M interior) is mounted as replacement of the upper handle above the driver door window. As such it is an alternative spot for OP to store his sunglasses. It is pictured in gray in post #2 by ayao ), it is not a center console sunglasses tray, that would replace the ashtray.

Any NA 1M and EU/ROW without smoker 441 package, would have parts 4 & 5 from factory, those are to be replaced with the parts from box 6. I saw that OP got the X1 sunglasses holder and that's good, cause I doubt the E82 OEM ashtray will fit any regular pair of glasses. Not using insert tray 7 may increase the size a little bit. It would be great to keep smaller items away from prying eyes and to charge stuff.

Iirc to replace this tray, you need to take out the center console (TIS: Ablagefach) which involves more screws that you'd guess, as illustrated in here TIS 51 16 200 RA Ablagefach aus- und einbauen.pdf

OK - so I'm back to thinking of a lid or cover for the front console tray.

I can 3D print it, measurement and design is the complicated part.

More about storage in the front interior: the EURO spec 1Ms also feature a "cubby" pocket left of steering-wheel. Though, just not deep enough to store normal sized sun glasses.
