Issues above 5k, Log inside

JB4 G5 ISO, issues in map 0 and map 1 at WOT above 5k

Car was garaged all winter, I started it weekly and would let it reach operating temps. After getting it out, i noticed that it didn't feel right at WOT.

- Car had brand new injector/ plugs installed last year (currently has bad catalytic converts due to previously stuck open injector)

Issue: Struggling to get past 5,000 Rpms, throw SES light and JB4 goes into map 4. Evey thing goes back to normal after i clear the codes, and only the fuel pressure sensor code comes back.

Codes:

29F3 - fuel pressure sensor
29F4 (P0420) - Catalyst System Effeciency Below Threshold (Bank 1)
29F5 (P0430) - Catalyst System Effeciency Below Threshold (Bank 2)

29CF - Cylinder 3 misfire, put new plug in today..nothing changed, swapped coils around, nothing changed, swapped injector 3 and 4..nothing changed, still getting cylinder 3 misfires on each WOT pull.

Question:

1. Could the bad Cats be causing issues at WOT which could cause a cylinder misfire? I'm installing my *** less DP this week, so MAYBE that will fix it?

Update: installed VRFS cat less DPs, cylinder 1/3 misfire at WOT 6500rpm..

2. Could a bad fuel pressure sensor cause fuel issues? I know this is a very common code to have, and I have had it since i bought the car, but it has not ever given me any problems.

Update: swapped in a new sensor, low pressure fuel pump is ok.

LOG: Very first Log, Couldn't Rev the car out past 6500, SES/LIMP mode/ Map4

- Please let me know how it looks, and If the misfire might be the main issues here. Any input is appreciated.

Did you just let the car idle to warm up?

Your plugs and cylinders are going to be carboned up to hell from doing that.

The bad cat converters will cause a miss and those exact symptoms. The fuel pressure code, IDK.

I hope that's the problem, I'm getting cat less Dp installed next week, so we will see if that solves it. I swapped injector 3 and 4 around, but still got a consistent cylinder 3 misfire above 5k rpms...so it's not spark plug/coil/injector or carbon bc valves were cleaned last summer.

I had a friend who had the exact same issue. His ended up being failed catalytic converter. (Verified by the dealer) we replaced it and it fixed all of his issues.

Great, that's next on my list. I changed my lpfp sensor this morning, took it for a drive/log and fuel pressures look fine, but still got a cylinder 2/3/multiple misfire code above 5k. Ill just take it easy and see what's going on after swapping out DPs

How tough was it to change the lpfp sensor? I've had the 29F3 code on my car since I bought it... car runs great, but still annoying to know that it's there.

Same here. You don't need to change it, unless you're having issues and need to log your lpfp pressures for diagnostics.

After you get your cowls/intakes off, you can easily get to it by removing the charge pipe/ removing the throttle body. **you don't need to remove the intake manifold. Took about a hour. The biggest pain in the ass was the sensor on the charge pipe, just wouldn't come off. I also broke my charge pipe by the c clip (ended up repairing it) so be carefule pulling it off the throttle body portion.

So I installed my VRFS DPS today, and the car runs a lot better/smoother since the catalytic converters were toast. I'm still having misfires on 1/3 @ 6500-7000 rpm...at this point idk what else it could be. I plan on doing a compression test.

Wondering if upgrading to 1 step colder plugs might help..what could cause this misfire ??? Injectors are new, swapped coils around and it's not it, plugs have less than 5k miles, valves cleaned 5k miles ago..

A friend of mine had the exact same issue. He tried new coils. He tried new plugs. Turned out... It was the injectors. Fortunately the CPO warranty was still in tact. BMW replaced them after a couple calls to BMW customer service. His car is a 335 '08 N54.

Injectors are brand new (5k) on them, I checked the plugs for wetness and it doesn't look like they are leaking.
