Missing Bluetooth – 2011 128i professional radio; non I-drive
Bluetooth/usb functions missing; no BT on menu – but it was there before. From previous posts I gather first thing to do is to reset the MULF (?) by unplugging connectors and putting them back. . I’m a little nervous about doing this. The attached picture shows my MULF. Could you tell me which ones to unplug and which ones to leave alone. Thanks!

Honestly know nothing about this, but I'd suggest disconnecting the battery and leaving it disconnected for a half hour and see if that fixes it.

That looks like a combox and not a MULF. The white one is for bluetooth.
http://f10.5post.com/forums/attachme...1&d=1369142610 You said you didn't have I-drive? The right connectors (I believe) are for I-drive/GPS. |

update
Thanks for all your feedback. Here is an update:
I tried the reset by detaching the negative battery cable, but no change. So I took the car to the dealer, who did the following: 1. cigar lighter: replaced 20 amp fuse. 2. usb /Aux: replaced defective units 3. IBS (intelligent battery sensor) adapter: replaced 4. Bluetooth: perform coding and updated software At the moment everything works. Sort of strange that all of the above units would go at the same time. I was thinking it would be the combox. Also not sure what the IBS unit has to do with my problem. From what I can tell it was a pretty expensive operation. Another post puts the IBS adapter alone at $850. Thankfully I was on the next to last day of my warranty from the dealer! Joe |

Strange. I wonder why it has the GPS antenna connected...
Anyways, I'm glad to hear that your issue was repaired under warranty. My USB function disappeared several months ago and it turned out to be my combox. I was out of warranty so I replaced it and reprogramed it myself. The failure point in your case seems to be the IBS unit. I'm guessing the replacement of the fuse and usb/aux ports were part of the diagnosis. |

Further update:
Had to go back to the dealer: He replaced the fuse for the cigar lighter -- again. Hopefully there is not a more underlying cause that is being missed. Re the software update: He updated software on ALL the relevant modules, which took 3.5 hrs. This considerably improved driveabliliy (esp. better shifting of the auto trans) and gas mileage. Joe |
