Hot weather log
I'm on MHD stage 2 with vsrf downpipes and bms intakes on 93oct. Just installed new NGK plugs gapped to .022. No intercooler yet.
These are my first few really hot weather logs. It has been 85-100° lately. The car pulls pretty strong, and logs look okay, but im getting timing corrections randomly on different cylinders. They never seem to go over -3. Are these normal? Both logs are 3rd gear pulls, traction control off. Timing corrections of 3 or less should be fine, looks like your IATs are creeping up though. Around a 30° temperature rise during your 3rd gear pulls. Since your timing corrections all happen right after you shift into 4th, I wouldn't be surprised if the timing corrections aren't at least partially caused by the higher IATs.

Thanks for checking it out. I have noticed better performance on cool nights. I think I'm due for a intercooler and some preventative water pump maintenance.
I took the car out again and set my gauges to show timing corrections. I was seeing them intermittently in situations where I was not using full throttle. I saw corrections as high as -5 on cylinder 1. I recall seeing a few under 4k rpm when accelerating (again, not full throttle). My AFR never went below 11.5 (it only goes that low on WOT) and intake temps were below 110, coolant around 200-210. Boost never exceeds 16psi. Is that normal? When do timing corrections become unacceptable? |

You really need to do a log with your foot planted through the floor of the go pedal from ~2500-redline. You let off as the speed gets up there. Keep it floored.
You don't want deviations in cylinder timing of greater than 3 degrees. But, lets get a good log first and see.

That should be a better log. Ambient temperature was very toasty at 97°, 3rd to 4th gear pull with traction control off. |

Log looks pretty similar to your first one. A couple timing corrections after you shift, but nothing I'd be too concerned about. Intake temps creep up by about 40° in this pull, an intercooler would definitely help you out.
One interesting thing I did see was that your fuel rail pressure seemed to taper off throughout the pull. Not really anything I've seen before, but the pressure was still plenty high so it may be normal, I'll let someone else chime in. Last thing, it's pretty cool to be able to see your shifting technique in this log. You press the clutch in and the RPM spikes a bit (from 5600 to 6300) while you're still letting off the throttle. Your first two logs were much smoother ![]()
