N54 logs before rod bearing failure
Hi Guys,
I blew a rod bearing in my 2009 N54 135i AT a few months ago. I was running a Cobb Stage 1 FMIC aggressive map, then switched to their E30 race map before the failure. I was running an E30 mixed with CA 91 fuel on both maps but I only have a datalog when running the 1 FMIC aggressive map. Could someone have look at my logs to see how the car was running? datalog12.csv contains the most information. Much appreciated in advance! |

Either upload the log csv files individually or host them on datazap. I'd be happy to look at them but I'm not opening a zip file.

An oil change should've showed the carnage, not a log lol |

There were a lot of metal fragments in the oil after the failure. I was hoping that the log would reveal if the issue was definitely related to oiling. Could it have been running too lean? I was running E30 with the stock fuel system.

Doesn't matter now though, the engine is toast unless you can find a way to flush the bearing material out. |

Thanks for your input guys.
My mechanic has just installed a low mileage engine, with the latest index 12 injectors and it seems to be running fine. I guess, I just want to know if the log I posted could indicate that the tune I was running could have contributed to the failure. Could a failed bearing only be caused by lubrication issues? Also, I'm not enjoying driving the car as much as I'd like to with the stock tune. I would like to reload my Cobb OTS tune but I absolutely do not want to blow another engine. |
