Already have a tune, just need opinions please.
So its been 7 weeks since I totaled my 135i and I now picked up another 09 135i.
This one does have RB next gens, rb inlets, intercooler, etc. Currently tuned at 13 psi with JB4 with Tribela tune. A couple thoughts were running through my head. I've used JB4 alone and I've used MHD alone. 1. Should I use MHD to override everything 2. JB4 with MHD 3. is there another option lol. We are looking to be aggressive with this car and make the most of these turbos. |

A good flash has literally hundreds of maps in the ECU carefully calibrated to make the engine run well at higher outputs. JB4 sucks a dick and intercepts a couple sensors and the wastegate while screwing with the can bus. It completely neglects the most important part of the tune which is fueling. It also has limited to nonexistent control over ignition and the cams.
Now some say the JB4 is convenient what with the buttons, gage hijacking, easy map switching and whatnot but in reality you can switch maps with MHD in a couple minutes and the gages and datalogging they give you blow the crap out of JB4. Also how often do you really need to change maps anyway? Maybe if you change fuel, in which case you can have MHD load the appropriate map when you fill up. You decide. |
