Did i oil enough my BMS filters with the K&N spray ?

Hi,

i just cleaned my BMS DCI with the K&N cleaning & spray kit (2 black bottles).

I am just a lil' bit concerned about the oiling part.

On the BMS site, they say :

- 37 grams on each cone + 7 grams on each inverted cone

But with the spray, it's difficult to balance, everyone is talking about not overoiling it anyway.

I approximatively oiled the filters like that :

(oiling part starts at 2mins54)

So just a light coat of oil. Do you think it's enough or not ? Should i add another light coat ?

I seen some others videos where guys spray way more oil, like a ton of oil on the filter... So i am little bit confused, cause i don't want to overoil it, but i want it to do it filtering job too.

Used to use the K&N kit on my DCI. I just spray them until they turn pink. If they look wet or drip it's too much and you need to let them drain out/dry out for a day.

Dont think too hard about it.

Does your filters were the white ones ??

Cause mines are the pink ones, and after cleaning them, they still look pink (a bit lighter pink than at the begginning maybe) so it's difficult to turn pink on already pink

Maybe i should add another light coat to be sure and let it dry anyway ?

How did you clean them? Should have been pretty pale after cleaning and drying.

The oiling concerns are more for people with a MAF.
We don't have those. So over oiling (within reason) isn't a big problem. If a second light coat makes you feel comfortable, go with it.

I much sprayed it with the cleaning bottle on both side of the filters, waited 10 minutes, then rinsed (with no pressure) it from the clean side to the dirt side until water got clear. (The water was kind of red at first, then water turned into clear after a few minutes of rinsing)

Then let it dry 24hours, and filters were still pink.. a lighter pink than new ones, but far for being white anyway.

I remember someone asking if he could use blue oil after cleaning BMS red filters , and someone replied that he will got purple filters .. so i thought that BMS filters being pink, even washed was pretty normal ?


Yes iminhell1 i think i will probably add a light coat to be sure that small dirt/dust get caught

EDIT: finally, did it, added another coat to be safe, will let dry for the night and eventually wipe it tomorrow if it's drippy
