I posted in another thread on the A pillar removal for the convertible.

I took my time making sure I ran the cable for the camera along the roof/window line and down the A pillar and back behind the glove box where the fuse box is. Several folks had mentioned using fuse #8, but I found out that was a constant on fuse and not what I wanted to use. I wound up using one of the empty fuses on the 2nd row, like 19 or 20 that were empty on my 128. Those were switched.

As for the camera itself, I guess it's ok, but I don't have anything to ref against since this is my first time using a dash cam. This rexing V1 needs a separate puck for GPS info, but for me, not a show stopper. My concern was having the video. Since most of these cameras are mounted on the passenger side of the rear view mirror, you need to know where the buttons are by feel. That's going to take some time, but it easy enough to remove from the adhesive mount. In regard to the mount, the 3m tape supplied was white, not very subtle. I had some grey 3m tape that I used to make it less obvious.

This camera also needs to use a 3rd party app called "timacam" in order to be able to see videos remotely. While I was setting this up via the wifi connect, it prompted me with an option in Chinese. I had no clue what to pick, so I uninstalled the app. Sent Rexing a message and waiting on a reply for remote access to the videos. The camera does "auto on/off" so that's a plus and has 3 minute time loops. Plenty of options via the menu to customize it. Time will tell how well this works.
If you download Google translate and point your phone at the Chinese it will translate for you haha. Got the idea when my friend went to Japan and couldn't figure out the buttons on the air conditioner.

Go 1080p and full screen. You'll see a bunch of single pixels frozen in white or rotating maybe 2 colors and staying mostly white.

OK, here's a few videos clips from the rexing V1 dash cam. You can set the loop intervals at 1, 2 or 3 min. Made sense to set it at 3 min for me. The resolution for the video is set at 2560x1440, so the image seems nice and clear. The one thing I'm not liking is there seems to be a bit of chop to the video. I'll need to follow up with manufacturer and see if that's normal.

Anyway, I present to you 3 different lighting versions taken with the V1....

Day: This video gives a good contrast between direct back light and front light. You can see when the sun was right in front of me, it washes the rest of the video to the point you can't even read the plate number of the car in front of me. With the the sun behind me, the video is great...

Dusk: I was actually on my way to a BMW meeting and turning left, but the traffic was abnormally backed up, so decided to go right and head back home...

Night: Surprised at how good the lighting was here with the headlights. They are on low beam....

I'd appreciate any comments you have on this video, good or bad...

Edit: I have to say that the video quality after being "youtubed" is terrible. It's lost so much detail. This is not the video I viewed direct from the camera...
