Will disconnecting battery reset service info?
Installing afe stage 2 intake.
The MAF must be disconnected. 1- Does this require disconnecting the battery? (Instructions say yes) 2- When I disconnect the battery, does the computer remember the service info or does everything reset? Thanks for any advice. |

We do this dozens of times/day at the dealer. We try to avoid disconnecting batteries at all cost. The FRM often gets fried when disconnecting and reconnecting the battery on E82 and E90 cars. |

Changed out steering wheel this week. So, had to disconnect battery (airbag). Service reminder still set where it was. Did not recognize the FRM risk, but seems ok.

Edit: actually need a power supply. A regular maintainer will shut off as soon as battery is disconnected. |

Wow, that's news to me... I don't recall that being mentioned in any of the battery replacement threads.

You can use a battery charger with a "Supply Mode," which supplies constant power to your car. This mode is meant for using when changing your battery but don't want to lose any of your car's settings. CTEK (among others) makes smart chargers that have this mode.

Oh. Nice!
Before I need to change my battery again I may spring for one of those.
