Advice for purchase of ultra low mileage 128i....
Been considering getting back into a BMW again. Had a 3 series cars - e30, e36, and e46 through the years. Came across an ultra low mile '13 128i, true manual tranny, M package, and several options - no navigation, but I don't care about that. Are these going for above KBB prices due to the difficulty finding manual transmissions? Mileage is in the low 4 digit range! Barely driven.
Issues with it sitting and not being used? I know change the brake/coolant/power steering fluids. Anything else? Going price for low low mile examples? Thanks in advance! |

I bought a 5/2010 128 with 6000 Miles in 2016 and never regretted. it was like new. Of course from one car to the next there may be differences. If you are buying from the original owner ask questions about his/her ownership habits, etc. If buying from dealer, check reputation, etc.

Why such low mileage; need good answer.
Did car get 1 oil change per year? If original owner, good. If not, I'd be a bit worried. Battery likely not great; was car started up 2/3 times a year just to charge battery? Car is worth 12-15K; it's a new car! Should still have dealer work orders available to see Have all recalls been done? I think it's a tremendous opportunity |

Dealer cannot deliver the car to the client if recalls are not taken care of. This may mean that you have to wait for a little time until all the work is done if there are pending recalls and the seller is a dealership. It's a good idea to inquire. |

Thanks all! I pulled the trigger. Purchased from the original owner. Asked about low miles, and was a legit explanation. Recall for airbag was done. Some service was done, but I plan on changing the fluids to get a fresh start. Drove great, so buttery smooth. He had it on a trickle charger, and drove it every once in a while. Gave me the records from dealership. Some stuff done, but not for a while. Didn't realize it was an SULEV model, as the original sticker that he had never stated as such. I'm happy to be back in the BMW family. Probably paid a little more than I would have for a 'used' car, but felt ok about it. Thanks for all the responses!

Haha!Good observation. I wanted to get a mini at one point, but never did. Chose the minitraveller name for my email before they decided to go with Mini Clubman name instead. Just stuck with using it ever since.

Why on earth would an owner buy a car for $40k and just not drive it. Seems like a waste (but a great buy for the OP). I admit I'm keeping mine stored mostly, but only after enjoying it for 39,000 miles. I couldn't imagine paying full price and then just letting it sit and depreciate.
